Stellead Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Bubbles Albeit a small, simple and very linear story that avoids dramatic gestures for the sake of simple everyday depiction of life it remains a refreshing one and beautiful at that. The movie starts with a young woman who tracks a guy from her past to whom she loaned some money. We accompany them for the duration and get to know them better and their relationship. The film stands thanks to solid performances of its lead actors. Jo Byeong-woon does a great outgoing happy-go-lucky kind of guy (rarely is this depicted in film in men I find) and Kim Hee-su a shy, pessimistic introvert. Together and through the rest of the cast we get a nice temporal arc both situational and inter-personal that by the end of the film may leave you both heart warmed and introspective. Very slow but worth it if you appreciate humanistic and less formulaic films.
sitenoise This film belongs to Jung-woo Ha. He is engaging and funny, one of those guys who knows how to spin even the worst of interactions into something that makes him seem likable. Vulnerable and in the dog-house, so to speak, he's still in charge of things as he sets out to borrow money from a series of old girlfriends in order to repay another old lover who follows him around while he does it. Seen in isolation, his charms don't add up, but the film manages to paint a convincing portrait of a guy you just can't say no to.Do-yeon Jeon, in heavy eye make-up, pretty much pouts her way through this Yoon-ki Lee film--which means it's low-key, slice of life, simple story stuff. It would be a let down with lesser actors. Don't expect high drama or excitement.
