September Tapes is best described as Blair Witch in Afghanistan. Instead of hunting a witch in the woods, a small documentary film crew brave the dangers of Afghanistan in search of Osama Bin Laden. Much like The Blair Witch Project, the idea behind this film is that eight tapes were found in a cavern in the Afghanistan mountains and they were put together to create this fictional documentary

Septem8er Tapes Audience Reviews

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
MegaStang I must've been living in a cave...pun intended...because I did not see or hear of this movie until today when I watched it on ENCORE.I rate it 8 out of 10. Which is a pretty good rating considering it came out almost 6 years ago.I honestly thought this movie was a documentary until half way through when he went to interview Raman's (SIC) after the curfew and then he asked about buying weapons! The plot was a little far fetched, finding Osama Bin Laden, but other than that it was a great movie.I especially liked the effects like the first ambush outside their hotel room and the running gun/rocket battle in the streets. I also liked the final night/cave gun battle near the end. Poor Wali and Sunni. //MegaStang\\
rockoandbill The movie was completely misleading and the bonus material confirmed my impression that it was a rip-off of Joeseph Conrad's Heart Of Darkness ,the River is replaced by a road and the boat becomes a Jeep and Walter Kurtz is Osama. The claims made on the outside of the DVD box was overt fraud totake this fabricated death of a Journalist and present it as factualwhile some portions have Muslims supporting the 9/11 attacks for the USA's treatment of Muslims around the world .I alerted the Video store that the movie should be removed from their "Documentary" section and be placed in the War-drama area for quasi fictional accounts of actual events.
falxx The only thing this movie misses, is the reality.I must admit that I had to check twice whether or not it had any roots in reality, but before the film was over, it had convinced me all by itself. On many occasions when I watched it I wanted to turn it off. The improbability of the things happening on the screen, the inconsistency of the characters, the complete obvious removal of scenery during car-scenes, all of which were not explained in a good way, contributed.Wali's accent was actually fading. Five years in the force, and walking right into crossfire? The camera was somehow on in -too- many situations that it wouldn't. The tapes was readily cut and sound mixed? Oh-really.
JackBlackApproach If you want thought provoking, this is not the place to go. The main character is annoying at best, and the depiction of Afghanistan seems false and lacking knowledge. Most of the actors are not convincing, and I was bored within 15 minutes, why? Because I didn't really care if the guy survived the next five minutes or not. When I picked it up I was expecting something more revealing, a point of view we have not seen yet. Something original at least, or at the very, very least, actors who knew what they were doing. If you want to learn more about things, gain insight, or new perspective, this isn't the place to go. Poorly made, hard to watch, and chalked full of stereotypical b.s. and a lot of cheesy lines from our main guy.
