Singer Joan Whitney, called the "Sweetheart of the Navy" by sailors, is struggling to re-open the Snug Harbor Cafe. After her partner, Richard, skips town with the money owed to their creditors, the club opens unceremoniously. Two of Joan's sailor friends, Andy and Pete, offer to help her raise money for the club by staging a fight with Bumper Martin, boxing champion of the fleet. At Andy's request, straight-laced yeoman Eddie Harris replaces him in the upcoming fight. Andy and Pete then intimidate or coerce the sailors into betting on the fight, promising to give Joan the profits. Navy Commander Lodge, who is grooming Eddie for the Naval Academy at Annapolis, is against the fight, however, and Joan decides to "vamp" Eddie to make him fight.

Sweetheart of the Navy Audience Reviews

Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film
Jeanskynebu the audience applauded
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
MartinHafer I must be honest...near the very end of this film the power went out in my house. And, for the life of me, I couldn't bring myself to finish the last few minutes...it was that tedious a movie! I should have known better, as it was from Grand National, perhaps the worst small movie production companies ever! When the film begins, Joan is in trouble. While she has gotten her bar ready for its grand opening, she didn't realize that her partner had absconded with their money. There's only one possible solution....have a GREAT opening night and make enough to pay off the creditors. But things don't go so smoothly and, unfortunately, this also means that the audience is going to have to listen to some dull singing and a dopey plot involving the Navy and a boxing match. So, the acting is bad, the music bad and the movie dull. So why watch the film? I have no idea...unless you are the curious type and want to see Etta McDaniel, Hattie McDaniel's sister.
