WCW Spring Stampede 1998 Audience Reviews

AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
Raetsonwe Redundant and unnecessary.
Stellead Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
Siflutter It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
callanvass Live from Denver, COAttendance 7,428Saturn Vs GoldbergGoldberg wins with an epic Jackhammer after countering the Rings of Saturn into a Jackhammer. Well, it was an adventure to say the least. Goldberg got exposed a little bit, but that menacing presence was still there. It just had some awkward moments and ugly botches.*1/2 out of 5Chavo Guerrero (W/Eddie) Vs The Ultimo DragonIf Chavo wins, he's free from Eddie. Chavo won't take advantage of The Dragon's injury and ends up eating a dragon sleeper and tapping out. Eddie is furious! Pretty above average stuff from these two for sure.**3/4 out of 5Television TitleBooker T (C) Vs Chris BenoitThis is babyface vs babyface. Booker T wins in controversial fashion. It started off a little slowly, but boy did it pick up after a while. This was pretty good stuff for the most part with the crowd split 50/50. Benoit's intensity knows no bounds. I liked the booking as well as it keeps both strong. ***1/4 out of 5The British Bulldog (W/Jim Neidhart) Vs Curt Hennig (W/Rick Rude)Neidhart and Rude are handcuffed to one another at ringside. Hennig wins after it's revealed Vincent was masquerading as an officer, which allows Hennig to toss Bulldog into the post and pin him. Rick Rude does a number on Bulldog and Neidhart afterwards. Hard to believe a match with two great talents like Hennig and Bulldog could be this bad. In their defense, they didn't have much to work with and it was a rush job. Still, pretty bad stuff.* out of 5Cruiserweight TitleChris Jericho (C) Vs Prince IaukeaJericho wins by submission with the Lion Tamer. A shockingly great match! Not surprised any time Jericho is in that ring. He can carry anyone to a great match, but Iaukea really did well and I'm not a fan of his at all. Good stuff from both.***1/2 out of 5Scott Steiner & Buff Bagwell Vs Lex Luger & Rick SteinerWell, this is gonna go south pretty quickly. Ugh. Bagwell tries to get out of the match, claiming he has a broken hand. Even has a cast around it. But he screws up. Luger and Rick Steiner win after Bagwell submits to The Rack. This was pretty mundane to say the least. Glad that's over with.*1/4 out of 5La Parka Vs PsychosisPsychosis wins with a guillotine Leg Drop. This match was technically fine, but it just felt kinda there with no heat behind it. The crowd was completely dead and rightfully so. Time killer and nothing more. Bit of a spotfest as well.** out of 5Bat Match'Hollywood' Hulk Hogan & Kevin Nash Vs 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper & The GiantWhoa. I remember this going last. Guess I remembered wrong. Not looking forward to this at all. Bats are suspended above the ring on a poll. Hollywood pins Piper, thanks to interference from The Disciple. Hogan turns on Nash after the match by hitting him with the bat. This was an overbooked mess. Just really, really bad. Crowd was into it, but it was pretty awful.3/4* out of 5United States TitleDDP (C) Vs RavenRaven wins the title after Horace Hogan debuts and costs DDP the match. Horace is Hogan's nephew, for those that don't know and he sucked. Decent enough match, but it felt like a normal hardcore match to me. Raven would lose the title the very next night on Nitro to Goldberg.**1/2 out of 5World Heavyweight TitleSting (C) Vs 'Macho Man' Randy SavageSavage wins the title after Kevin Nash costs Sting the belt. Hulk Hogan complains about Savage being champion. This was a very mediocre main event. Sting really seemed off and going through the motions. I can't be certain, only he knows. But he just seemed to not be into it. *1/2 out of 5Well, this show definitely wasn't boring and certainly had its moments. The nWo angle was starting to feel really tired at this juncture, though. I'd call it above average overall. The 5.4 rating is unfair.6.5/10
amanwhorocks 1. Saturn Vs.Goldberg - I love Goldberg's early singles matches. This time he turned Rings of Saturn into Jackhamer. What a impact in the match, and it wasn't squash, Saturn had his time, bravo. 9/10 2. Chavo Guerrero, Jr. Vs. Ultimo Dragon - Good match, in which I don't care 8/10 3. World T.V. Title Match: Chris Benoit Vs. Champ-Booker T. - Another great match, champ retained. 8.5/10 4. British Bulldog Vs. Curt Hennig - Very weird, Mr. Perfect, why? Bulldog almost never had any charisma... 6.5/10 5. WCW Cruiserweight Title Match: Prince Iaukea Vs. Champ-Chris Jericho Exciting count match, but Jericho still wins. 8.5/10 6. Scott Steiner/Buff Bagwell Vs. Rick Steiner/Lex Luger 6.5/107. Psychosis Vs. La Parka - Wow 2 of 3 most underrated WCW wrestlers fight each other. They can do it better, but I have to give them 9/108. Kevin Nash/Hulk Hogan Vs. Giant/Rowdy Roddy Piper - Contest of stiffness? Nash/Hogan/Pajpa 1st place. Giant-2nd place. Tragic comedy. Awful, awful match. 3/10 9. WCW U.S. Title Match Vs. Champ-Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Raven - My nostalgic match, I remember every second, saw that 100 times. Raven won U.S. Title! 10/10 10. WCW World Heavyweight Title Match: Randy Savage Vs. Champ-Sting - I don't get why was sting from late 97 so weak. WCW build him up, all the 97 and he jobbed hardly despite of his popularity. Hate that booking. Match? 5/10
