Info

Flikken was a popular Flemish-Belgian TV series about a police-department located in Ghent. The show started in 1999 and ended recently on 19 April 2009. In the series, a team of six police officers solved various crimes, petty crimes as well as organised crime. The series always aimed at showing the policework in a realistic way - though a little personal drama was never far off. Of all the actors that came along during the ten seasons, only Mark Tijsmans and Ludo Hellinx appeared throughout the entire series. Flikken was produced by the VRT and broadcast on Belgian public channel Eén and TROS in the Netherlands. Flikken is very popular in Belgium and the Netherlands. The show has had very high ratings of up to 1.8 million viewers during the last season. Every year the VRT organises the Flikkendag, a family day where the public can meet the actors of the show. There are many games, demonstrations of the real police and other safety organisations and performances of singers. On 18 April 2009, a special farewell party was organised in Ghent, in which the actors and crew said goodbye to their fans - thousands had assembled to watch the show on stage.

Flikken Audience Reviews

Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Borserie it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.
Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
hesketh27 This is an enjoyable Belgian TV series. I have watched most of the episodes on the DVD box sets available. The DVDs have no English subtitles, so you need to be able to speak Dutch to understand them. OK, its not great art, and doesn't have the high production values of American or British crime series e.g. CSI or Midsomer Murders but the show has an interesting, likable set of characters who come and go over the course of the different years, moments of charming humour and is very watchable. A good, old fashioned police drama which has provided me with hours of viewing pleasure. By the way, I have also seen Sedes en Belli and Witse, which are entertaining too. Thank you TV1.
ruvasky This series is the best Belgian production ever. I live in Ghent and we are all very proud on our city. The way this series (Flikken is about a police-department located in Ghent) shows our city to the world makes us all very happy. The series was supported by our own police-department to make it look realistic, and I think those officers did a great job. A few years ago, the name "Flikken" was a negative nickname for "cops" in dutch. Now, thanks to the series, it's considered as a compliment...
Aussiefan This is a great cop-show: The story lines are good. It's not just about murder or rape. And it doesn't have an spectacular car-chase every episode, like some shows. It's more realistic. They also have to solve burglaries, shoplifting, assault, stalking, vandalism etc, etc., like real cops have to do. You also get to know more and more about the background of the characters. Almost all the actors are fabulous (some of them look good as well!-But they aren't models) and last but not least it has humour. In short: It's just fun!!
K3yz3rS0z3 When "Flikken" first started in 1999, it was a very good show. But the second series were a lot worse, suddenly al the story lines were very unbelievable. But in the third series, it's getting better again! They introduced some new characters, and it's fun to watch again. But it's still not very realistic anymore. Next year, the fourth season will be shown, but it won't be the same again, with three major characters who are leaving (Axel Daeseleire, Cahit Ölmez and the always gorgeous Joke Devynck). On the other hand, the also always gorgeous Ann Ceurvels will be introduced, but still, they should stop the show now, while it's still popular, instead of keeping on going downhill.
