We've seen the first two seasons, waiting on Seasons 3&4. Fun and entertaining throughout. I enjoy the Australian actors and Richard is a reall hoot. The story lines are unusual but keep you watching and give you something to think about. Sometimes I wish Rake would straighten up and act right, but then we might lose his quirkiness. Great show! We watch a lot of British mysteries and police drama. This is more fun and just as interesting.

I would give season one a 10, and season two was pretty good also. After that, no one could seem to get over being so small, petty, and unimportant. It was irritating to watch. It was a simple fest of 'who will let who down this episode'. It simply rotates among the characters and I wish they would just all end up in jail and end the series.

It's a show that revolves around the life of Cleaver Green. Cleaver is an immature, drug addict, that lives for the moment! He has it all and if he could pull his tickety boo together, he could be well off. Instead he blows everything, partying his head off and waking up, black out drunk, sometimes days later. He speaks his mind and is quite easily annoyed by issues around him. He is an attorney by profession and turns the courtroom into a circus. I find myself hating him, yet rooting for him to win the case! If I ever got caught smuggling blood diamonds in my luggage, I would call Mr. Green for counsel. Cleaver evolves at some point in the 4th season. He plans for the future! He wants others to be happy and cares about what is happening in the world. In the end, he runs for politics as a Senator and will be a grand representative!

Not being Australian and completely unfamiliar with Australian TV, I came to Rake without any expectations or preconceived notions. I find the show is hilarious and mesmerizing at the same time, in no small part due to Roxburgh's performance. He's terrific as a cad with a heart of 14K gold plated brass.In some ways, Rake is reminiscent of, but doesn't imitate, the great Robbie Coltrane series, Cracker, with both lead characters brilliant in their professional lives, yet exasperatingly self-destructive train wrecks once they're off the clock.The show's been Americanized by Fox, starring Greg Kinnear (an actor of whom I'm a big fan), but I'm avoiding the Fox series because I've been told the edge of the Australian original was sanded down for American audiences. But, it's the sharp edge that I enjoy. If you can get your hands on the OZ version of Rake, you ought to watch it. It's really good TV.
