Baazigar Audience Reviews

Console best movie i've ever seen.
Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Gypsi Bates The less known about the plot, the better the viewing experience for this drama. Briefly, Shah Rukh Khan plays a man who is courting two sisters (played by Shilpa Shetty and Kajol) under two different personas. He has pressing reasons, which the viewer learns through well-told back story as the film progresses. This often tense film delivers an impressive surprise early on, and keeps the viewer on edge through out. Khan delivers an excellent performance, and Kajol and Shetty do well, also. The music and choreography are only average, keeping the movie from a rating of ten. Otherwise, this is an impressive, suspenseful, and emotional film (reminiscent of Hitchcock) that is well worth watching.Cast also includes: Master Sumeet, Johnny Lever, and Dalip Tahil.
anthony_fernandes80 Baazigar arrived like a hurricane at the BO and shocked everyone! The unconventional script and the brilliant music made this film an instant hit.Ajay (SRK) and Seema (Shilpa Shetty) are in love with each other. Vicky (SRK again) and Priya (Kajol) fall in love as well. Priya and Seema are sisters. Do both the sisters love twin brothers? Is he the same guy? Is it going to be one of those cheesy love triangles? The intermission (which is regarded as on of the most shocking intermission sequences in Indian cinema) should answer these questions and raise many more!SRK went out there and did something absolutely different. With Darr ending 1993 for him, he was easily the best actor that year. Everyone was talking about the new Baazigar who knew no Darr of trying something new, regardless of the Anjaam! (Corny, I know! :) ) Kajol and Shilpa Shetty did not get as much scope as Shahrukh, but both performed super confidently and delivered memorable performances. If Khiladi gave Abbas Mustaan their first hit, Baazigar gave them their first Superhit. The talented duo would go on to make many successful suspense thrillers.Apart for the actors and the directors, another person benefited hugely from the success of this film. That person was music composer Anu Malik whose struggling days had finally come to an end. With earlier hits that year in Sir and Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, Anu Malik got his first mammoth hit (to be followed by many more years of successful music). He received his first Filmfare award and further added to ace composers Nadeem-Shravan's woes. Incidentally Nadeem-Shravan were offered this film. But since Kajol hadn't thanked them for their mediocre score in Bekhudi during the film's release, they swore to never compose for a film starring the Bengali actress. Their decision made Anu Malik their biggest competitor.Baazigar is a good film in most respects and even 20 years ahead, it is enjoyable. Whether you know the suspense or no, watch it! If SRKs act won't entertain you, Johnny lever's evergreen comedy will have you in splits again! For first timers, this is a great watch.
Chrysanthepop 'Baazigar' is probably the first commercial Hindi film that centres around the anti-hero. It 'loosely' rips off 'A Kiss Before Dying'. It's not a scene by scene copy and the director duo did smartly Indianize it (unfortunately a lot of it is too Bollywood e.g. the 'dishum dishum' fight sequences). To an extent, as a film, it is better than 'A Kiss Before Dying' as the twists are changed to appeal to the Indian audience. The songs are pleasant but some of the tunes are ripped off too. The whole comedy track featuring Johnny Lever and co deserve to be fast-forwarded. What mainly makes 'Baazigar' more watchable than it's 'original' source is its performances. The film belongs to Shahrukh Khan who does his first anti-hero act and blows the audience away with a strong balanced performance of a multi-layered character. Kajol is lovably hyper in the beginning but she shows her character's gradual maturity with grace. Shilpa Shetty gives a stunning debut act. Rakhee plays the typical distressed mother again. Johnny Lever is irritating as always. The rest of the cast do not impress much either. Technically the film could have used a lot of improvement but one should keep in mind that this is a film of the early 1990s. The end sequence is a disappointment and it sadly brings the film down by a notch but on the whole, 'Baazigar' is enjoyable to watch. In spite of the plentiful plot holes, there are some fine moments like the scenes where Ajay manipulates Seema, Priya discovering the truth about her sister, Priya confronting Ajay...Even though one knows what happens in the end, there's something about the film that makes you sit through it.
scotland_jewel This is a good one. Shah Rukh Khan in a completely different type of role. Very complex and interesting. One is torn between feeling sorry for him, hoping he "gets away with murder", and yet hoping he does get caught and get some much needed help...lol. Some of the fight scenes are a bit over the top, and it is not one for those who are squeamish at the sight of blood, as towards the end there is a bit. Kajol is OK, in this film, not one of her better roles, I think. But, I think she is much better than, Shilpa Shetty.Over all, it is one I recommend.
