Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets Audience Reviews

Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Brainsbell The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
jahangirhussain74 Newcomer director Vivek Agnihotri took the plunge of directly ripping-off the Hollywood hit 'Usual Suspects' in Bollywood as the lame excuse for a movie called 'Chocolate'.Nothing is in the right place in this movie. Be it acting, storytelling, hard-hitting dialogues or even the screenplay. No loose ends are tied in the end. No explanations are provided for the actions of the characters. We never get to know why do these five friends (Irfan Khan, Suniel Shetty, Emraan Hashmi, Arshad Warsi and Tanushree Dutta) keep committing one crime after another. No explanations have been provided for the eccentricities of the lawyer, Krish Pundit (played by Anil Kapoor). Why does the character of Monsoon Iyer (played by Sushma Reddy) acts like Anil Kapoor's Personal Assistant if she is a crime reporter? And Krish Pundit says that he doesn't care if the characters of Irfan Khan and Tanushree Dutta are guilty or innocent. Still, he wants them to tell him the true story linking them to the boat incident and truck robbery! After all, he is their lawyer and he's bound to fight for their cause even if they're lying to him or not saying anything at all.Music is pleasing to the ears. 'Mummy ko nahi hai pata' and 'halka halka' are the picks of the lot. Editing could've been sharper.Probably the editor was sleeping throughout the whole movie. Cinematography is awesome. If 'Chocolate' scores in any department it would be in the cinematography department as the beauty of London and its winter had been captured to the fullest. Vivek Agnihotri should be applauded for attempting something different but the problem lies in his execution. He doesn't know how to tell a story.'Chocolate' is the worst remake of 'Usual Suspects' which was a success at the box-office and was declared a classic. I would recommend that you rather borrow the DVD of 'Usual Suspects' instead.
Manoj Arya I always wondered how Bollywood gets away with so much plagiarism so blatantly without facing any law action. Filmmakers, musicians, screenwriters rob Hollywood and other factories for stories, screenplays, music, and what not (I remember even Ashutosh Govarikar's debut film was fickle attempt to remake Brian De Pelma's Body Double, David Dhavan's Partner(Hitch), almost all of Bhatt camp movies Raaz (What lies Beneath). If it is done right or at least watchable (Zaher(Out of Time), Mujhase Shaadi Karogi mild recommendations) audience never minds this overt larceny. Vivek Agnihotri (he made Identity into some ridiculous Ek Tufaaani Raat) set his eyes on great Usual Suspects and tried to concoct a popcorn flick with potboiler intentions. Film suffers from poor writing (adaptation is more appropriate word), direction, production values (one robbery sequence where I burst out laughing). As if enough damages hasn't done there are one or two miscasts like Suniel Shetty (biggest miscast in any film anyway, though credit him for dragging himself so long with help of industry Dosti-Yaari) to do the rest. But movie has some real good songs-item songs, Tanushri Datta cleavage and new twist ending. Watch if you stumbled on this flipping channels.
parlayra Seriously, after seeing this film, I am considering just leaving Bollywood in the dust. I'm so sick of films like this. This is not a remake of The Usual Suspects; it's a total flippin' rip-off. The director had nothing new to offer to the topic and just basically re-shot the movie in Hindi, in London and made it really bad. Everything is word-for-word of the original. What makes it worse is that they threw a girl in just to prance her around half-naked most of the time. I hope Bryan Singer sues all of the bastards involved in making this film and I hope all of those people come to their senses and never work in film again.
mh_ccl While it's true that this movie is a rip-off of "The Usual Suspects," it is still a highly entertaining Bollywood film. Considering that many Bollywood films don't have plots this intricate, I consider this a good movie. There are some key differences: the suspect is not being interrogated by investigators; a woman is added to the gang (which makes for better wet-dress dance scenes); and while some elements of the ending are the same, it is (to my mind) a different ending.I would recommend this movie to people just starting to appreciate Bollywood films: the familiar plot will make it easy to follow, though it ruins the surprise.
