HeadlinesExotic Boring
Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
trashgang I knew when I picked this up at a horror convention that the title was saying what you would get, pure schlock. It was well made but you really have to sit through some boring pieces and some effects that are really no budget. this is in fact for lovers of the Z-genre.From the first seconds you do know what you will get, a rip-off of Vampirella in the name of Slutpira. Simple settings but even Slutpira doesn't take it seriously. There are four films to watch here and let be the worst be Mike Wuz Here and the best Slay Ride. The idea of revenge in Blood Witch was a rather good entry although you have seen the story a thousand times before but there are actually killings going on. They aren't gory of course, just some blood here and there but it worked. Second came Mike Wuz Here which for me had nothing to offer. It's all blah blah. One Foot In The Grave did had a lot of stop motion but the funny part is that they didn't take their own flick seriously so here and there the fun comes in. In between Slutpira is giving comments to the next episode but one comment do has gratuitous nudity which in fact has really nothing to do with the story whatsoever. It's full frontal unshaved galore. And from that point the nudity do comes in. In the last episode we have Ruby LaRocca showing her trimmed pubic hair but before that it's shower time as gratuitous as it can be with a fully shaved full frontal heavily tattooed chick showing off. Yes Slay Ride will satisfy the geeks out there. It even has a small gory shot. Once the flick is over we do see the crew breaking off the set and we move towards the directors editing room where he suddenly is being attacked by previous attacks seen in the four stories, and that part dis really work. If you pick this up don't think you are going to see the next big thing. This is really for the Z-grade horror buffs. All is included, boring parts, bloody parts, booby parts...Gore 0/5 Nudity 2/5 Effects 0/5 Story 1,5/5 Comedy 0/5
TdSmth5 Faces of Schlock offers 4 20 minutes+ shorts of independent C and below level horror. Framing these are comedic bits by hostess Slutpira that end also with a bit of horror. The first story is "Blood Witch" and it's about a 17th century witch that was caught with her lover by the church. Now she's been summoned by some rebellious goth chick to kill anyone she's angry at. But the witch gets tired of being her puppet and killing and when she meets her former lover, everyone suffers a reversal of fortune. The story is good, but this short doesn't look very good. Grade C+ "Mike Wuz Here" is about a fired movie theater employee who gets fired and commits suicide. Now he haunts the theater and no one takes him seriously. His former colleagues and friends don't care for him. So he decides to take over the body of the new manager and kill everyone. This short looks bad and sounds bad and the story is weak. Grade D In "One Foot in the Grave", a girl has to have her gangrenous foot amputated. A witch working with the girl's podiatrist wants to foot to create an immortality potion. But the foot takes on a life of it's own and takes revenge on everyone. Things improve with this short. It looks and sounds much better and some of the cast can actually act. The story also involves some unique ideas. Grade B- They saved the best for last with "Slay Ride". An angry teen is left alone for Christmas to study with a tutor. She doesn't believe in Christmas and treats her parents like dirt. Also living on the premises is the mentally disabled and creepy caretaker. Eventually people start dying. This is the more elaborate short, that finally features plenty of nudity and includes in the cast the lovely Ruby Larocca. Grade B For what it is, Faces of Schlock is alright. But you've got to know what your getting yourself into here. Don't even expect a horror B-movie. This is done by horror enthusiasts and their friends with little to no budget and it mainly serves to showcase the potential of some of the writers and directors.
hunch51984 Hailing from the north, four filmmakers with a passion for horror partnered up to create a film called "Faces of Schlock". The film itself is the true embodiment of Independent film, shot on a shoe-string budget with camcorders and a true film-making spirit these guys put together one hell of a good film, which can only be described as having a storytelling style made famous in Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt among others. Hitchcock it is not, and that is what makes it so great! They had fun making the film and it showed on the screen, and with a young and energetic fervor this kids from the tri-state area have begun what hopefully will become a nice long career in independent horror films.Jason Reneau, Blogger for The Movie-Watchers Guide to the Galaxy
