Jomonte Suvisheshangal Audience Reviews

ShangLuda Admirable film.
Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
Bluebell Alcock Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
Tejas Nair It is disheartening to see a veteran director like Sathyan Anthikad making such low-quality family dramas that are not only difficult to watch but also without any substance. Even if one does not compare this cold turkey and the 2015 debacle "Ennum Eppozhum" with the director's past films, there is still the issue of lack of novelty.Jomon (Dulquer Salmaan) is a carefree young man who has to take care of his father when the latter repeatedly makes few bad business decisions. The film largely talks about Jomon's sugarcoated struggle to be a good and responsible son.Dulquer Salmaan should be blamed for taking up this project which is driven by a half-baked screenplay. Evidence of the shoddy execution becomes clear in the first half itself where the makers do not have any more things to say, so they introduce new characters, new arcs that just do not add up. With the exception of Mukesh, none of the cast members do a good job. Anupama Parameshwaran cannot act and neither can the newbie Aishwarya Rajesh. Salmaan and rest of the characters engage in blatant overacting (partly because the script demands it). Lastly, comparing it with Vineeth Sreenivasan's Jacobinte Swargarajyam (2016) shouldn't be a problem as both of them are in the same league: exaggerated family drama that talks about responsibilities and accuses the younger generation of having none. Pure hyperbole.BOTTOM LINE: I've not even listed the large number of plot-holes and glaring defects in the film. Not recommended! Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES
ridinbal My rating- 2.5/5 (Disappointing) Positives- 1.)Dulquer,Anupama,Innocent,Mukesh and Aishwarya- (3.3/5)- Dulquer's performance was just good and nothing marvelous in it. Anupamas role was short but she did good. Innocent was great and mukesh was just OK. Aishwarya was also good.2.)Songs - (3.3/5) Negatives- 1.)Direction,screenplay and story- (2/5) Direction got messed up and story had nothing new and it looked copy of jacobinte swargarajyam. Screenplay failed to give seriousness in required areas. Plot had less novel elements to the credit and this is one of the main drawbacks. And no logic in some areas and disturbed the experience.2.)Shot in thrissur but none of the main actors had thrissur slang while delivering dialogues Overall- Its a clichéd movie and really disappointment me. I heard in recent interview of director that director forgot to say cut while seeing dulquer's emotional performance but i didn't see any such scene like that. Overall just watch it for dulquer and nothing new in this movie and it may disappoint some audience. My rating- 2.5/5
Vaishnav KB When we think about movies directed by Sathyan Anthikad, the most striking aspects that pop into our minds are that of all of them barring a very few have the goodness factor visible in them and also the simplicity of the plot. The subjects giving stress for family values and relationships will have a social relevance in it. The background that Sathyan chooses to elaborate his plot will also be pretty much the same not for all but for a majority of his flicks. These are all the attributes that make a Sathyan Anthikad movie a special one for the majority of the audience and more particularly for the family audience among whom the director and his films have a special place in their heart. Though off late, this fan base has eroded to an extent as a result of repetition in the treatment of the movies. Still, people seriously look forward to his films with much anticipation expecting a minimum level of entertainment.Jomontay Suvisheshangal, the latest Sathyan Anthikad movie finally reaches the audience after all those incidents that were casting a bad shadow for our industry. This time its new generation actor Dulquer Salman the chosen one who is given the mantle to lead the film scripted by Iqbal Kuttipuram who was the scriptwriter for Oru Indian Pranayakatha which was also directed by Sathyan Anthikad.read more on varietycinema.com
Afsal Hussain (afsalthodupuzha) The Quality of Satyan Anthikad films have languished evidently post 2010(Leaving aside an above average 'Oru Indian Pranayakadha') with his usual family dramas becoming too repetitive with seen-before characters, clichéd situations and extremely predictable narration.Still,I made up my mind to try this Satyan flick on the day of its release as it was the first movie release from Mollywood post the theater strike that lasted almost a month.Surprisingly, the storyline of the film is blatantly similar to 2015 blockbuster '"Jacobinte Swargarajyam" that presented a care-free youth, played by Nivin Pauly resuscitating the lost glory of his family post financial crisis. The highly predictable screenplay of Jomonte Suviseshangal by Iqbal Kuttipuram is based upon the same one-line plot, with the narration being pretty ordinary on comparison with JSR.The first half was rather interesting with few good comic sequences and rocking chemistry between the father-son duo of Dulquer and Mukesh being the best part of the narration. The treatment was similar to Satyan films in the past with the screenplay making profound focus on family relationships, utilizing natural humor to keep the viewers engaged with the narration. The second half in contrary was a big mess, with the narration losing its grip as minutes passed by.The movie started traversing the most predictable paths with the similarity with JSR and other Satyan films adding to the boredom. The way things got winded up in the end was presented very unconvincingly, the simple reason why the movie couldn't connect with the audience unlike JSR which was an inspirational affair in all means. The only saving grace in the slow-paced second half was few combination sequences between Dulquer and Mukesh that portrayed the intensity father-son relationship well on screen.Performancewise,Dulquer Salman portrayed the title character Jomon pretty well with ample support from Mukesh who played the role of Jomon's father with required perfection. The chemistry between the two worked out very well and the light hearted sequences between the two stood out in an otherwise monotonous narration.Anupama Parameshwaran had nothing much to perform than to look good.Kakkamuttai fame Aishwarya Rajesh did her part well.Among others,Shivaji Guruvayur and Manobala were impressive.Jacob Gregory seemed as if he is still not out of the ABCD hangover.Songs by Vidyasagar except for "Nokki Nokki" were disappointing and sub-standard from a composer of his caliber.Editing by K. Rajagopal and Cinematography by S.Kumar were fine.Overall, Jomonte Suviseshangal is passable feel-good film that reminds that its hard time Satyan Anthikad tried something different from his clichéd family dramas.Final Verdict::The apt title for the this movie could have been "Jomonte Swargarajyam" as nothing much have changed here from the 2015 Mollywood flick as far as the basic storyline is concerned. An addition to the list of clichéd family dramas from Satyan Anthikad, the 138 minutes long feature is a strictly average feel good flick that might turn satisfactory if you go with least of expectations.
