Night of Henna Audience Reviews

Linkshoch Wonderful Movie
ThiefHott Too much of everything
Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
Console best movie i've ever seen.
Truth Irwin I enjoyed watching Night of Henna in a small screening with the film maker. It was great to hear the stories of how the film came to be and some of the behind the scenes info! As an aspiring film maker it felt good to 'rub elbows' with someone who is actually doing it! Keeping in mind it was his first film, I thought it was good for what it was. Many of the actors were quite attractive. In some places granted the acting could have been better, but hey, it was a low budget first film. Give a guy a break. Of course the subject matter is important. The cultural clashes and how things worked out in the end is a testimony to the human spirit and how the world is changing for the better. Yay!
ohbah This is the worst movie I have ever seen. The acting was bad and the story was awful....awful I tell you awful. I don't want to criticize the movie otherwise I will give A LOT of details (spoil) for the people who still wants to see this crappy movie. At first I was expecting a lot from this movie...but while I was watching the film...my friend and I were cringing. I wasted almost two hours of my good time. Argumetns that come out of nowhere, plots misplaced, many many things are disconnected. For those who are planning to buy the movie...don't waste your money on it..you will regret it. The mother and daughter relationship was weird...the father and son relationship was weirder and it was left unanswered. The son sometimes snaps out of the blue and I was like..."what the heck!!!!What's going on?"...And at the end the son disappears. The whole accident scene was pointless and was not necessary. Night of Henna has a lot of stereotypical issues against Americans and south Asians (Pakistani people and Islam religion too). Okay...Probably the director wanted to make it funny or try to address the issues in a way that is poorly done....I'll stop here...otherwise I will go on forever discussing everything wrong with this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BillyBoy-11 This is a movie that you have to approach with low expectations. The plot is apparent from the outset. A Pakistani girl who had been raised for the past nine years in the old country returns home to San Francisco. Unaware of her father's promise made when she was married to give her to the son of a family friend to wed, she adapts to an American life by taking a job, meeting an American boy, and starting college. On the other side of the arranged marriage equation is her intended who has an American girl he is living with. Gee, do you think the arranged marriage will actually take place? This one is really hard to figure. Pooja Kumar, who plays the role of Hava, is in fact a beautiful girl with a beautiful smile. It is too bad that the acting is so patently overly dramatic. There is just too much cheap emotion from all of the players to make this enjoyable. The script was so bad that I wondered at the end if the screen writer had really wanted his or her name listed on the credits. The low light includes the American boy's landlady -- a drunk in constant need of a lay. Justin, the American boy, comes across as a stalker at the beginning of the flick and an overly consumed kid who becomes a Muslim wannabe by the end. So, why see this movie? If you need a reminder of what movies should not be like and if you want to hear Pakistani accents, it will suffice. But go knowing what you are going to get; a movie that from beginning to end never rises above the maudlin. It's best quality is its consistency. You know what you are going to get with each scene and the quality of performance is consistently poor.
j2remote Having just viewed this film 'Night of Henna', I was moved by a story showing people of vastly different backgrounds letting love overcome the adversity of clashing cultures and politics. This film showed how today's political and religious differences affect people on a one-to-one basis. But, despite conveying an important message of hope, "Night of Henna" was still quite fun and provided many good laughs for its audience. The music, pervasive throughout the film, provided a youthful pulse, well-matched to the film's vividly colorful and artful cinematography. The characters, especially the beautiful lead female Hava and her delightfully funny mother, were well developed. I very much enjoyed "Night of Henna" and recommend it!
