Nightstalker Audience Reviews

Listonixio Fresh and Exciting
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Arlis Fuson I love serial killers and their stories, but rarely do we get to see their story. They try to tell the story from some one else's perspective or either they try to turn it into a damn horror movie. I love Horror, but real people and real drama is not make belief and shouldn't be written or filmed as such.Ramirez was a real life night stalker who killed several people mostly women. His story is infamous, but this story is about a woman detective that was on the case. It was all about her and the only time you really see Ramirez is when he's tripping and being haunted by a demon symbolic of Satan, which was supposedly his muse.Chris Fisher wrote and directed and was HORRIBLE. I hated that crazy fast, shaky direction style he used to incorporate the drug trips. Whenever he wasn't trying to be creative and failing miserably he was doing a closeup that made it take away from the feeling of what the character needed to show. Close-ups are usually bad, and directors just cant seem to learn that.Bret Roberts played Ramirez and he didn't look like him, or act like him and did nothing for me. Roselyn Sanchez did a great job as Martinez and the movie revolved around her so I guess thats all that matters. It was a true delight having Danny Trejo involved, he is one of my favorite actors. Most of the actors were pretty good I must admit, they held it together and were pleasant. The story was based on facts, but it was just not done well at all...failure 2 out of 10 stars and thats for the acting
Moe Aboulkheir This movie uses the Jacob's Ladder neck-spasm-melting-face shot at least 50 times. The whole affair struck me as a bunch of badly thought out and cheaply executed gimmick effects shots strung together by an inaccurate and largely aimless plot. There is nothing worthwhile holding the movie together, nor is there anything decisive about it or it's construction. It has all the depth of a commercial for soap powder and the thoughtfulness and presence of mind of a butternut squash. I'd imagine it could be compressed into four or five frames without losing any information.About as demanding of the viewer as an hour and a half of television static, though slightly less thought provoking. I can usually find something to like in any movie, but this one is total pap. Avoid at all costs, unless you're a fourteen year old pothead who likes to chew sand and electrocute himself, in which case you might enjoy it.
shistboy There is no truth to be found in this movie, however, based on it that it may be. Only the acting by the movies two main characters is anything close to truth. Too bad the writing and directing strive for too much. This movie is a slasher with an odd twist (besides the "based on true story" riff raff), that is it shows a man hopping around too modern heavy metal dressed like demon in rocker's clothing. This is an insane devil man, so i guess that means the main character is too. He doesn't ever let his victims or us see his face because he has body-dysmorphic disorder. He needs a prostitute friend in the beginning then decides to kill her and everyone in the neighborhood while demon man hops around in his head as he smokes crack. Roselyn Sanchez plays the lead and her role is just as confusing as everyone else in the movie. She has a knack for finding the killer. Screws up in during her new promotion to homicide leaking clues on the TV news. And there is a scene where she gets the bad guy...the end.
dcobbimdb I liked this movie. I've read many other words, and certain critiquing things I think were true, but overall I liked it and would give it a rating of 7 / 10. It's a B movie, so don't be expecting big stars, anything expensive or awesome special effects, but I liked how it was done and give credit to the directing style and cinematography. This movie would appeal to viewers who like the drug aspect of Tran spotting, Requiem of a Dream, but unlike having psychedelic like feel, it's much more dark and speed metal like with the music and the cinematography matching in that it will do tons of flashes of screen cuts in sync with the music. For me I was impressed by amount of work that went into making those segments of the movie and kind of rode it like a wave. You'll either go with it or go against it. Thing is, these sequences are all throughout the movie, because of that it will make or break it for you.The plot - A crack / speed freak who's possessed by a Demon (who only he can see) commands him to rape, maim, and kill, meanwhile the cops search for clues to hunt him down. It's simple, but terrifying at the same time. I think the movie did a good job of capturing the suspense & horror of the story, provided you weren't too busy shaking off the dizzying effect from the tweaker scenes. The interesting thing to note is that unlike most rape / murder movies where the viewer is guessing who the bad guy is or how they done it, this movie puts you in the killers head, literally. So there's no real guesswork and literally no surprise at all. The movie relies solely on the tweaking effect of the camera work, and the horror & suspense that's coupled with the killers rampage. Worked for me, may not work for many. The acting was pretty good to so-so. Had it been a big budget movie with big name actors I would have expected more. But being a B movie with a bunch of no names actors, you're bar slides a little. The bad guy kind of freaked me out to say the least, so in that regard I was impressed by the acting for a guy who only had a few lines, he certainly stole the show. I wasn't particularly impressed by any of the cops though. So load up on something, get comfortable, maybe throw on some shades, and prepare yourself for a hyper, B, thriller. For those of you who don't care for drug movies, speed metal, murder / rape, B movies, then stay away.
