The Mistress Club Audience Reviews

Micitype Pretty Good
MusicChat It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Smooth B "The Mistress Club" is a funny movie, although it's listed as a drama on IMDB. There were some genuine comedic moments, mostly involving the zany Trudy character. As a disclaimer, I must say that my review is littered with spoilers. Three friends--Stephanie, Gwen, and Trudy (played by Shauna O'Brien, Griffin Drew, and Kira Reed), are all married to cheating husbands. Gwen is the authoritative type and clearly the leader of this group. She caught her husband cheating, and he made it up to her by building her a very expensive house. They now have an open relationship--well, at least it's open on her end of it. Stephanie is the loner type; she'll pretty much do as she wants, but she'll go along with the group if it's good for her in particular. Trudy is the sweet, innocent type; she's only been with one man in her life, and that's her husband. She's naive, blind to the fact that her hubby is sleeping around on her....until it happens right in front of her. Kira Reed shines in this character; a character she plays so well, it made me think it was written with her in mind. Stephanie and Trudy turn to their best friend Gwen, the one with the cool demeanor, the one with all the answers. Stephanie wants to get a divorce, but Gwen talks her out of it. Gwen comes up with a plan to get back at their husbands, and have some fun while doing it. Her idea? The Mistress Club!Using Gwen's tried-and-true method for revenge against a philandering husband, Stephanie and Trudy turn themselves into desirable sex kittens, waiting to get laid at a moment's notice. Stephanie sleeps with a couple of guys, but realizes this sort of thing just isn't for her. Trudy finds a guy and sleeps with him, but now wants a relationship with him. Gwen invites the cable guy over (this, after sleeping with the poolboy a couple of times) for some "servicing", and her husband walks into the room in a nonchalant fashion. Of course, this scares him off. She mentions to her hubby that it's been a while since they made love, which instantly means a sex scene is coming. They end up reconciling at the end.The comedic dialogue between these women had me chuckling in between the sex scenes. Griffin Drew's character, Gwen, had this "cool" thing going on throughout the film....she bosses the other two around and ends their conversations by saying, "Leave everything to me." Trudy, played by Kira Reed, was the comic relief. She said and did the funny things; case it point, one of the quotes of the film:Gwen: Now girls, here's where you have your cake and eat it too.Trudy: Ooh, cake!!Gwen: No, not that kind of cake. I mean revenge on your husbands.Trudy (with a sad face): Oh.This was a tapeworthy movie for all aspects of it--the women, the sex scenes (which were plentiful), and the decent storyline.Women: A- (Griffin, Shauna, and Kira. Three of my favorite women, all in one movie. Griffin gets the lion's share of the lines in this movie, and she doesn't disappoint.)Sex: B (Plenty of sex scenes, with the standard bump-and-grind action. Kira brings that extra "umph" to her scenes, though.)Story: B (We had some character development and decent storylines, as well as funny dialogue from Trudy and witty quips from Gwen. The conversation between Trudy and the cable guy was hilarious, as was Gwen's chat with the same cable guy. Stephanie's contribution is mostly via her sex scenes, although her storyline has the most progression.)Overall: B+ (I thought this flick was a drama with comedic elements; a "dramedy" if you will. In terms of acting, this was one of Kira Reed's better films, and it's right up there for Griffin Drew. I'm not so sure for Shauna--I've seen better, but I've seen worse too. It's not perfect, but "The Mistress Club" has plenty of sex and laughs for the late night crowd.)
tomc123 Shauna O'Brien portrays Stephanie, a loving wife who returns home to find her husband in bed with another woman.Griffin Drew and Kira Reed portray her married friends who have also learned of their own husband's infidelity (Griffin reveals that she had caught her husband with another woman some time ago and then explains her proven strategy of how they should all fight back). She tells them that instead of getting divorced, they should each get even by doing the same thing to their husbands that their husbands did to them. She proclaims, `Your marriage isn't over, it's just entering a new phase.' She cleverly admits that while she wanted to leave her cheating husband `It's much more fun spending all of his money' and forcing him to `work himself to the ground' trying to keep up with all of her expenses. They decide to get back at their cheating husbands by forming a `Mistress Club' guided by Griffin's main rules:1. Since their husbands cheated, so can they. But instead of being used, they become the users. 2. Stay in shape because if you are going to become a mistress, then you'll want to be a desirable mistress. 3. Videotape your affair and then make your husband suffer by having him watch it `in living color.' 4. Never get involved with the lover and choose men who are either `old and married or young and stupid.' (One of Griffin's funniest lines in the movie). After finalizing their rules, they each choose a target (Kira selects her husband's law partner and Shauna chooses a `beef cake' calendar model). What happens throughout the remaining parts of the movie can best be described as pure viewing pleasure. The movie's clever script, supported by its' three premier actresses, serves up some of the hottest and most memorable scenes ever shown within this category of movies best described as `late night hot video action.'Griffin Drew sizzles as Gwen, the insatiable harlot who gives a whole new meaning to the phrase `don't get mad, get even.' Her steamy scenes are well shot, and properly carried through, and to the movie's credit, you have to wait until one of the final scene's to see her hottest and sexiest seduction. This pleasurable scene involves her wearing a sexy skintight black outfit befitting of someone with her looks and shape. Her placement of her lover's hands to the erogenous parts of her body, followed by the coupling of her hands other his, add passion and intensity to the encounter. The scene is punctuated by her leaning forward, arms anchored across the back of a couch, freely giving of herself as her lover penetrates from the rear. But unlike other encounters, she now seems emotionally drawn and passionately involved, casting serious doubt that she will continue with her role as the leader of `The Mistress Club.'Her role was well written and her character was well portrayed. This is one of the best Griffin Drew movies I have ever seen.Shauna O'Brien is equally convincing in her role as the devoted and caring wife who is deeply hurt by her husband's infidelity. Confused and uncertain, she is reluctant to participate in her girlfriend's scheme, evidenced by her failure to seduce her target, the sexy model, during their first date. But the beautiful and formerly faithful wife summons up the courage to move forward with their plan and in an unlikely twist of fate, seduces an unsuspecting cable TV repairman who innocently visits her home (another worthy scene that you don't want to miss). This movie is a must see for Shauna O'Brien fans. During close-ups, I'm always amazed at how pretty this dark haired actress truly is.Kira Reed, who portrays Trudy, delivers her own brand of comic relief throughout the entire movie. At one point, when Stephanie refers to having sex with one of the men as `I just want to do it and get it over with' Kira responds in character `You make it sound like a trip to the dentist!'Trying to light and then smoke a cigar, and gagging on a piece of ice that she had just rubbed against her body, are humorous lead-ins to her enticing seduction scene's, though her hottest encounter takes place when she brings her husband's law partner into her husband's former bedroom (a couple of nice hair flips while being satisfied from behind, clearly show that she can be just as provocative in the bedroom as the other female leads).Kira's looks remind me of the girl `with a nice personality' and `good sense of humor' that your friends make you take out on a blind date. To your surprise, the customary good night kiss leads to the discovery that she is worth her weight in gold in the bedroom. These were the right three actresses, complimented by the right, well-written script, and a wonderful wardrobe (classy outfits and swim suits and very sexy lingerie). Put it all together and you have a very enjoyable movie for your late night viewing pleasure.
