Mutant snakes survived a terrorist attack on a government laboratory, and they now threaten the town of Santa Mira Springs, California. Seismic activity has brought snakes to the surface, where residents are being bitten. Victims can transmit the virus to healthy persons. The military puts the town under quarantine. Local physicians try to control the epidemic, while the military is primarily concerned with keeping the virus a secret.

Venomous Audience Reviews

VividSimon Simply Perfect
ShangLuda Admirable film.
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Cooktopi The acting in this movie is really good.
robkell-909 I am compelled to write about this video now that I've just finished watching it. This is a movie I would recommend others to watch at least "once."This is not a classic, but it has a good story line and several subplots. It could very easily have become a tear-jerker. I disagree with people who say that the acting was bad. The acting was better than the "direction" (directing) in my opinion. In the hands of better director(s) and a bit of a more refined plot, the video would have received much better reception.Personally I vouch for a remake with the above enhancements.
Tonci Pivac Ok why does Treat Williams waste his talent on such terrible movies, He is much to good of actor to be in this film. This film is quite possible the worst film I have seen this year. Trust me if you see this film at your local video shop, then run as far away as possible.Mr. Williams please try and keep away from these type of films.2/10
moviebee This was a movie very similar to "Outbreak". Its an OK movie, its entertainment. But it doesn't score that high points with me. Not that bad acting though. The movie had some strange events which I must conclude as errors. Like meeting cars on a closed road for example. You're always one step ahead of the plot.
DerRalf Frankly spoken I don't expect much of a good movie, especially if it is labelled 'horror'. All I want is a tiny bit of original material. Venomous fails to deliver any of that. The story is taken from 'Outbreak' only without that movies' style and class. The special effects range from dull to not existent, and even the few twists this story contains are given away without any thought at all. The idea of a virus spreading through snake bites seems intriguing, but in this movie there are far too many questions left unanswered. Who are the terrorists in the beginning? What did the snakes feed upon the following years (without spreading the virus?). The only surprise was German actor Hannes Jaennicke as supporting doctor. I didn't think of him speaking English so fluently. If You want my advice for what it's worth. Don't pay for watching this movie. Go and rent "Outbreak", you will not regret it.
