Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) This is a really good watch for everybody who played the famous Street Fighter video game when they were younger. But it also worth a watch for everybody who didn't. We follow the two young men I mentioned in the title of this review on their road to becoming supreme martial artists. Ken is the more extroverted of the two, Caucasian and truly talented, who really looks more like a surfer than like as fighter. However, he is also probably sometimes too boastful for his own good. Ryu is the calmer one, Asian, with an advantage in mental strength and he does not fear any challenge no matter how hard it is to achieve or how long it will take him. The two are like brothers.This mini-series is written and directed by Joey Ansah, who also plays a character in here as he is a trained martial artist himself. I read that he next plans a similar miniseries starring Guile and Chun Li and I'd certainly love to watch that. Now about this one here, it runs for 13 episodes (including a very short prologue) and has a total runtime of roughly 2.5 hours, so you can really watch it in one go. Each episode runs for 10-13 minutes. The actor who plays Ken here helped Ansah with the script. Ansah made a short film back in 2010 together with him already, but still with a different actor for Ryu. I have to say this mini-series here is maybe at its weakest when it only focuses on Ryu and that happens a couple times as he is probably even more lead character than Ken. Still the two do belong together and also get a great ending where they go off into the world with their trainer staying behind. And as Ken says at that point, the adventure had only just begun. Occasionally, I felt in the second half that they may not have enough quality material to make this worth watching for 150 minutes, but every time I began thinking like that, the level rose once again quickly after, for example in entertaining moments when Ken cuts of his ponytail or when the two protagonists play video games themselves. Pretty hilarious moment. If they had actually picked a fighter game, this would have been a truly odd situation. But in a positive way of course.The whole thing came out exactly a year ago today and that is why I decided giving it a look, but also because I really loved the video game as a kid. Recommended and I would love to see a real Street Fighter movie soon including more than only two crucial characters.

jdavisjdavis If you like martial arts and video games, then there is no excuse not to watch this. It's a Street Fighter non-cartoon that is actually good, yes really! I'm a gamer, and Street Fighter is one of my favorites so I may be a little biased. But I have been burned in the past, so I typically avoid movies that aren't a sure thing. Still I heard good things about this, finally bought it for my 7 year old who is crazy about Street Fighter, and I was very much pleasantly surprised. It even caught the attention of my wife and she stopped what she was doing to watch half of it... that's right my wife who has never sat through an entire movie while at home, ever, much less 5 minutes of a martial arts flick! This is very much the story of Ryu and Ken, Akuma and Gouken. It is very Japanese, in that it's set entirely(?) in Japan and has a fair bit of Japanese dialog. The older Japanese actors and the young lady are what made it for me... they were quite convincing. The other guys did a fine job as well. The fighting was more than respectable, and you could tell these guys knew what they were doing. The effects are not Hollywood, but they are not emphasized much and the other aspects of the movie make up for it.

Sheila Pollosco When I watched the movie, I was very impressed with the moves and how the character played their roles. And the looks, they are more likely to have same feature especially Ken and Akuma base on the video game. The Hadouken and Shoryuken are fantastic and awesome!!! This is really an exciting movie and looking forward to watch the other Street Fighter sequel! When I was in college, I even compete with other players like challenging them while using Akuma as my favorite character. I am actually waiting for Akuma to use the Hadouken through the air. I really don't know the exact term but it is like firing the Hadouken while jumping. And also some kicks of Akuma in the video game are not shown in the movie. But nevertheless, I am really impressed overall with the movie. And it was nice to know how Goki became Akuma and how it all started between Ryu and Ken. Hopefully in the next Street Fighter movie sequel, they will include the story of Ken having a wife and a kid. And I also hope that they make the movie Street Fighter: New Generation and so to find someone who can portray the role of Gill with the power to do a meteor strikes. An Awesome Movie to watch!! :-)

kenubu I've been waiting for a Street Fighter live action adaptation for ages...I mean there has been previous attempts, but that's all they were attempts, and they messed up the story so much that not even half way through those movies you'd go "What the hell???"...So after watching this feature film, I was completely blown away. They stayed true to the Street Fighter storyline and the moves were almost as in the games. the only one i kind of hated was the 'Hurricane Kick', which i felt wasn't up to par. I'm not saying i wanted to see a couple of guys spinning endlessly like in the game completely defying gravity, but a 720 degrees spin with three kicks would have been cool. The Hadouken, and Shoryuken, were awesome.The best thing for me was my favorite in game character, Ken Masters, the casting was spot on...Ryu was a close look-a-like as well, but Ken sold it for me and that Flaming Shoryuken epic. Akuma could have looked a little scarier though, but his finishing move, wasn't expecting that at all.So now am begging the producers and director to please, please do make a sequel or two. i would love to see your take on Chun Li, Guile, Bison,Sagat,and the most difficult of all Blanca and Dahalsim.This is a must watch for all Street Fighter fans and all those wanting to watch a good storyline.
