FeistyUpper If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
Brainsbell The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
cinemajesty Movie Review: "Wild Card" (2015)Actor Jason Statham delivers in a tailored action-character role as Nick Wild as one of Las Vegas common inhabitants, seeking a glorious exit with an hardship-calculated money-amount of so-believed eternal bliss, when Wild blows his chance gets into trouble with the usual suspect gang, alongside glamorous supports from actress Sofía Vergara over Dominik Garcia-Lorido to always upscaling Stanley Tucci under the fast-tracked direction of "Con Air" approved director Simon West, when this 85-Minute movie brings the goods for a quick take of entertainment and leading man in best form to enjoy with no strings attached in two excellent-executed because precisely-chereographed as elegantely captures gun-hand-gun combat scenes with sharp-edged twist of splendid slow-motion shots much to portfolio benifits for capable as talented cinematography Shelley Johnson, elevating this action-drama to be a "Wild Card" in motion pictures indeed. © 2018 Felix Alexander Dausend (Cinemajesty Entertainments LLC)
Dylan Gallagher I'm usually quite intrigued by Jason Statham's movies because he has this likable essence about him, and he usually plays a super bad-ass (If I'm allowed to say that..) but I feel that this movie was lacking in many areas. Most of the characters were seemingly 2 dimensional and hardly believable; the only 2 characters you really learn a bit about is "Nick Wild" played by Jason Statham and "Cyrus Kinnick" played by Michael Angarano; beside these 2 individuals, everybody else felt so paper- thin and out of place. There were a lot of scenarios in this film that seemed quite pointless because they didn't exactly fit in and the characters also felt pointless, and we had no idea who these individuals were as people because we didn't learn any details about them; they felt like small-time scenes to fill the gaps to meet the runtime requirements. I liked "Cassandra", the blonde waitress whom Wild seemed to fancy, though the chemistry between those two never really went anywhere because at the end, Wild got into a car and drove off, followed by credits. I was hoping for a more in depth conclusion, but it felt rushed, which made it uninteresting and unexpected (in a bad way). The most entertainment I got from this film was Statham's fight scenes. Once again, his "don't mess with me" vibe was brilliant to watch, but besides these moments, the film as a whole was a pretty big flop (in my opinion)..The film had potential but felt rushed and messy. Disappointing and sub-standard screenplay. 4/10
MugseyGrant I have seen many of Jasons films and do like his work but sadly Wild Card wasn't doing it for me. It was predictable more than a Walt Disney film. Without any doubt, one of his worst if you like Jason watch it but don't go out your way you ain't missing much. A weird and little stupid with the storyline their are some funny moments. A little bit of fighting and some classic jokes. But the story was slow and hard to get into. I also cannot understand the use of the soundtrack it didn't fit the film. On a bonus, the fight scenes was some the best I've seen the only reason it managed to get a 6. Would I watch this film again no I rather watch My Little Pony or Americas Next Top Model at least that had more humor. Stay away from this film if you want to lose time of your life your nothing going to get back. Finally Jason being on a boat in a happy sunny day wearing a white top that has no connection or reason behind it within the film. Then we are told it's set in Christmas where the Christmas trees. Bloody awful Nick Wild is not saint nick and neither is this film.
jtindahouse 'Wild Card' is a fun ride. It's about as disjointed and unfocused as you'll ever see a modern film, but it's fun nonetheless. Jason Statham carries the movie. We follow him from start to finish and it's simply a pleasure. I don't know what it is about the guy, he's just a very likable actor to watch. He's an action star through and through (you'll never see him being nominated for an Academy Award, at least not for acting) and he just does what he does very well. Is he alone enough to make a film watchable? I'd say so, yes.The action scenes are well directed, for the most part, and the story, while a bit all over the place, is never dull. The question that keeps coming to mind is what is the point? Generally movies like this have a central plot-point that the whole thing revolves around, but in this there are little plot pieces all over the place. Perhaps this was just an attempt to show Statham's character in many different lights. Afterall, I'd watch another movie about this guy. If you're willing to not over-analyse, I think you'll enjoy the film.
