Wizard-8 Do you remember those cheap and awful straight to video movies PM Entertainment ground out in the 1990s before they got bigger budgets and better scripts and direction? Well, "Border Lost" shares a lot in common with those movies, only it makes those PM Entertainment movies look like masterpieces in comparison. It's appallingly cheap, with cinematography that strongly resembles what a VHS camcorder would grind out, and with little in the way of production values. There's hardly any story, with things stretched out long past the breaking point for an agonizing one hundred and five minutes in length. It's terribly acted, though in fairness to the cast the script gives them hardly anything in the way of character development and personality. There's almost no action, and what little there is wouldn't make expert action directors like Isaac Florentine or John Woo lose any sleep. The end result is a movie that's absolutely agonizing to watch. Why Mill Creek Entertainment thought that this movie was worth a re-release on DVD, I cannot say.
blade5-1 The intro was too long and drawn out. I liked the effects and the drama the producers created but I found myself saying..."all right all ready...let's get to it.". I was bored while we were still in the opening credits. When the movie finally started I was uncomfortable because the writing and acting was bush. And okay...it's another border story, we know. we know. I did love the settings., especially the final scene on a Mexican ranch...the personal stories about the characters got good in the middle but the acting was just poor. The best actor was the big fat Mexican 2nd in charge drug guy, he was GREAT. The rest of the actors were all poor...they make you think you could do a better job yourself. It could possibly be the script. But guess what? It's worth a view.
crazynorweegian If someone would have spent the extra few grand on putting this movie on film instead of video, I think the impression of this movie would be better. The music tracks were not always appropriate for the scenes and both the acting and editing could have been even marginally improved for a much greater return on the movie's overall quality. I would say that it is not even remotely good as it stands, but such little things could have taken it so much closer to being acceptable. I think the fact that it has to do with Mexico just reminds me all that much more of Spanish day-time TV. Oh, and they also filmed it like a bad soap opera, most of the time without even a tripod.
ttox-1 Im not gonna get into too many details cause most of you haven't seen it yet.The best part of this movie is right at the start. Its a scene where a few Mexican woman and children try to cross the US border. After this it gets hard to keep watching. The overall bad acting, bad shooting scenes, what actually is there not to find bad about this movie?? There are A and B quality movies and this one adds the F quality. Waste of time and waste of money(making it and watching it)even if it's a Monday night.I rated it 2 out of 10 for the trouble.
