The Persona Century Corporation has purchased nearly every parcel of land on earth. Dissension is not tolerated within the corporation's borders and those who oppose Persona are dealt with swiftly. Of those few places not yet under Persona's control is the free town of Kabuki-cho, also known as "The Dark Side of Tokyo". Within the town, under the leadership of a woman named Mai, is a small resistance group called Messiah. Into this world steps a man who takes the sobriquet of Kabuki-cho: Darkside. Sealed up in another dimension eighteen years ago by Persona Century, Darkside now returns to aid Messiah using his unique mystic power of renewal.

Darkside Blues Audience Reviews

ChikPapa Very disappointed :(
Lawbolisted Powerful
Jacomedi A Surprisingly Unforgettable Movie!
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
rbenyakov This is yet another one of those films where if I say I didn't like it, people will say, I didn't get it. But I didn't get it, and it wasn't an entertaining enough film to compel me to watch the DVD repeatedly trying to unravel this mess of hokey symbolism. We never get more than stock characters, a mysterious stranger who might be the key to changing everything, and a band of young rebels who want to tear down the evil corporation that has taken over the world. And even more clichéd the villainess had a pet falcon. Just once I want to a see a bad guy with a pet bunny rabbit or chipmunk. In any event I never got to the point where I cared about any of the heroes. When Darkside Blue tries to add something to this overused formula the result is confusing.
fu-zin Being a huge fan of an anime and always desperate to watch as much of it as possible, I must say that this one was lame. I didn't like animation, didn't like the plot and didn't like the characters either. The plot is a one enormous hole: you can figure that something is definitely happening, but you cannot say what and for what reason. The characters are one-dimensional and have absolutely no development along the movie. The initial conflict is somewhat interesting and even intriguing (a huge corporation controlling 90 percent of the Earth and a bunch of free-thinking teenagers opposed to it - plus some mysterious Darkside planning some 'renewal'), but it leads to nowhere: the protagonists talk a lot, but in the end you get none explanation. So, I was left utterly confused and therefore irritated. They could at least have made some cool blues soundtrack (for which you could hope having read the title), but in fact the soundtrack was colourless and boring as well.I don't think that this one deserves to be called an anime. A really frustrating disappointment. If you want to watch something really exciting about some Utopian city and its dwellers made in an anime style, go for Necropolis.
El_Durango A cigarette takes away 6 min of your life, this movie takes away 80 min of it. I cannot believe I watched this movie till the end, hoping the story would develop, it did'nt. Basically darkside blues takes place in the future where some corporate evil is up to their no good doings, and there are a bunch of rebels against them, and some mysterious guy appears out of nowhere, the end. I don't remember all of it, since I am trying to forget about this disaster. I would recommend anything else over this, yes even garbage pail kids the movie!
GreyFox37 you guys are kinda harsh for voting so low. this title at least deserves a 7. this anime is very difficult to understand, but i figured it out the best i could. it contains a deep grasp of psychological and philosophical elements put into what they call "dream renewal." the animation isn't too bad, the characters are decent, but one character i didn't understand was the girl by the piano in the beginning. who the hell was she? if anyone knows, e-mail me. overall, darkside blues is a decent anime.
