Hick Audience Reviews

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
SnoopyStyle It's 80's Nebraska. Luli McMullen (Chloë Grace Moretz) turns 13 and one of her gifts is a gun. Her mother (Juliette Lewis) takes off with a guy. Luli decides to runaway to Las Vegas. She hitches a ride with rodeo cowboy Eddie (Eddie Redmayne) with a limp. He kicks her out after calling him a gimp. She gets picked up by Glenda (Blake Lively).Moretz is young doing this sexual character. There is a fun quirky sense that is somewhat irksome. It wouldn't be quite as bad if it does this in a gritty ugly way. Moretz doing Dirty Harry is too playful. Redmayne mumbles a lot. Lively does surprisingly reasonable. The story is a muddle. There are ways to make more sense and make it easier. It may need somebody other than Andrea Portes to adapt her book. The big three leads are ready for their stardom. This is a minor detour.
evant299 I have always been a big Chloe Grace moretz fan! She is one of my favorite actresses and even though this film got bad reviews i decided to give it a try and i was Surprised!!! It is extremely underrated! It had an all star cast, an interesting story, great Cinemotagraphy, Realism and Extremely good acting! Chloe Grace Moretz gave one of her best performances so far in this film! She puts actresses 15 years older than her to shame! I highly recommend watching this movie! It can be depressing and , yes it does have some minor flaws but this is a great film! I loved it! This only made me respect Chloe Grace Moretz even more! The Cinemotagraphy really captured the 1970's era and it felt real too! I don't understand how this film got such bad reviews! I Highly recommend this to Fans of Chlloe Grace Moretz! This Film I Worth Seeing Just for her Performance alone! Bravo!
fionajohanna Hick, a low budget 2001 indie film where the young female protagonist, Chloë Grace Moretzone, gives a performance worthy of a dozen actors. Blake Lively supports this small heroine, breaking out of her standard type-casted role, to a feisty, raunchy, southern belle character with a deep psychological background that inches to surface. Would have liked to have seen a better established climax, but the ending stayed true to the story, which could very well be more non-fiction than fiction. All in all, worth watching for insight to alternate perspectives of society's standard of normalcy..
zetes Based on Andrea Portes' semi-autobiographical novel, this is an icky film that follows white trash teenager Chloe Grace Moretz as she runs away from home and narrowly avoids being raped by just about everybody - until she perhaps doesn't. The main problem is that they just go way out of the way to make Moretz such delectable jail bait - she's either in short shorts or panties for a good portion of the movie, which if you're over 17 feels really pervy. It's too bad, because Moretz is great in the movie. It's no secret she's an awfully good actress, and this could very well be her best performance yet. The other actors, including Juliette Lewis, Blake Lively and particularly Eddie Redmayne, are also very good. Martini's direction is very good, as well, which leaves all the problems with Andrea Portes. Sucks for her that this is "60% autobiographical," but this story isn't really worth telling.
