Knight Rider 2010 Audience Reviews

GamerTab That was an excellent one.
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Leofwine_draca When the popular KNIGHT RIDER TV series finished, I guess the producers weren't quite ready to give up the ghost because they produced a couple of follow-on TV movies in the years after. The first at least had Hasslehoff to tie it into the series, whereas KNIGHT RIDER 2010 has absolutely nothing to do with the show or indeed even the spirit of the show.Sure, there's an armoured car with weapons in a couple of scenes, but that's the only scant connection. The rest of this is set in a post-apocalyptic world, with heavy nods to the MAD MAX films, where an evil organisation is presided over by a disabled scientist and our loner hero must use his wits and his high-powered car to rescue a kidnapped woman. Oh, and there's something about illegal organ donation, too. The acting is wooden beyond belief, the lead actor is simply terrible, and the production values are so appalling as to be non-existent which renders the many action scenes laughable. The one thing this has going for it is a villainous Brion James in typically arresting form, but sadly he can do nothing to save the film itself.
jasonsalcido1 I watched a disc of Knight Rider 2010 which I hadn't seen since my childhood, ironically I'm writing this review in 2011, so luckily the Mad Max style apocalypse has not happened yet. Three cheers for the Action Pack TV block! In my opinion if you take it as face value as a post apocalypse car action movie its not half bad. The thing that struck at once was that even though the Knight Rider conventions are there (talking car, charismatic loner on a mission of justice) the critics are right that its just not Knight Rider. The TV movie Kight Rider 2000 and the 2010 Knight Rider remake were more legitimate than this one.I love the old western style dialog and narration. I love that the on-board computer is a sexy sounding chick who quips one liners to the hero, as opposed to a stuffy English voice. I like how the hero starts out as an outlaw with a low opinion of himself, then builds himself up. I like how in this version the hero has a young wisecracking sidekick- a Robin to the hero's Batman.Around this time Virtual Reality had become possible with 1990's computers, so it was the latest buzzword at the time. Even better was that film was able to portray Virtual worlds much better than the early computers of the time with camera tricks and funny lighting effects. To respond to the other critics who posted that wanted Hasselhoff or high tech cars in the film; obviously for a TV movie of the week they had no real budget, and so could not afford Hasselhoff or extremely expensive high tech props. Some problems I had was I did not like the silly sci fi costumes for side characters (like Kabuki, the sidekick as a Rockabilly, the Redneck with the comical large mustache) On the whole it's a nice diversion of nostalgia that suffered from exploiting the Knight Rider brand. It even has monster truck smashing scenes.
mjdaniels-1 If you're expecting the hairy chest of David Hasselhoff and the retro cool Pontiac of KITT then don't bother with this movie. Purported to be loosely based on the original series it has no character called Knight, no reference to the Foundation for Law And Government and has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Knight Rider. In fact, it's rubbish. A bounty hunter operating outside the law gets caught up in a love triangle with his former girlfriend and her disabled boss. Somehow he turns down a Ferrari, an AC Cobra and a 1950's piece of American automobile history to rebuild an old hot rod car, coating it in bulletproof material and making a computer that can talk. Hence the ability to trade on the Knight Rider brand. Aside from that, it's nothing other than an attempt to keep the name alive until Glen A. Larson finishes writing the script for the new Knight Rider movie, due out in 2008.
whacko I saw this on the UPN network's "Action Pack" which is where the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena Warrior Princess started out. It was kind of an afternoon movie show and each week they showed a different movie. Some had several 2 hour episodes like Hercules. Other's like Knight Rider 2010 only had one shot. The movie takes place in a post apocalyptic world in the same vein as Mad Max. A few powerful corporations are still around but a lot of the world is wasteland and decaying cities. One of the corporations is after a crystal computer chip, which eventually becomes the core of the new K.I.T.T. although the car has little in common with the black Trans Am from the series. The recorded mind of the driver's love interest is stored in the crystal computer chip and does little more than make sassy comments and try to come to terms with her death. There is another baddie out there with a fance car created from the remains of a stealth bomber. The climax of the movie is a chase through the city while machine guns and bombs fly.I have over-simplified the plot but it really isn't much more complicated than I have laid out. The T.V. movie would have been more successful had it been given a non-Knight Rider name. Had it been billed as a Mad Max ripp-off it might have been better received. In the end though, this movie is a lot more entertaining than "Team Knight Rider." Which was truly horrid and reminiscent of the Power Rangers TV Show in terms of some of its visuals.
