Light of Day Audience Reviews

Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Lucia Ayala It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
mckenzie2467-908-385498 Joan Jett was perfect in this movie, the bad-girl rocker rebel of the family. Michael J Fox was equally wonderful as the brother rocker in the middle. I liked the basic storyline, loved the music; the only bad part of the movie was once again, the Christian element on TV. Whenever there is a Christian element, it is always the same : the woman is the ruler of the house. The man is a brainless useless lump of flesh, and generally the Christian is a lunatic fanatic (note the 'blessing' before the meal). Not to mention in this one the whole concept was that the minister had sex with a young teen girl and got her pregnant. Why did the father have to be the pastor? Why did her father have to be a vegetable? Why did the mother have to be such an idiot? If you hate God, could you do us all a favor and keep it to yourself? The story could have been told very well, WITH the same basic plots, without throwing handfuls of waste at God. Slamming Christianity is one thing, but you got a bit carried away with it here.Regardless, Joan and Michael, along with many other great actors, delivered a great, turbulent, rock and roll movie. It was almost as good as it gets. Too bad some stupid writer had to chuck in his personal viewpoint of Christianity and make it into a "Let's trash the crazy sinner Christians" again movie.Although a critical part of the story was pathetic, the cast turned it into a hit anyway. Two thumbs up for the cast, and two thumbs down to the writer.Hope that's not your ONLY day job.
jncstover I wouldn't go as far as to say this is the greatest rock n roll movie Ever, but I think this is the greatest bar band movie EVER! I grew up around Cleveland about this time, and this is how it was! My brothers are muscicians, and this was THEIR story! Back then, not many movies were filmed in Cleveland because of how it looked. It was sooooo refreshing to see a movie that not only showed how Cleveland looked, but how the people that lived there REALLY were! Joe( Michael J. Fox) reminds me so much of my brother it's scary! And Patti ( Joan Jett) was who I wanted to be!! Not to mention the music ROCKS!! I have been to the Euclid Tavern ( I think it's closed now) and the Akron Agaora (I know that's closed) and that's how they really were! Kudos to Paul Schrader for making this movie! BTW........CLEVELAND ROCKS!!!!! (Did I mention that Michael J. Fox is my favorite actor? GET BETTER MICHAEL!!!!!!!)
swh3 If you're looking for an Academy Award caliber screenplay or performances - keep looking. If you're looking for an imaginative or tightly wrenched plot line - keep on looking. But if you're looking for a relatively simple, mildly thought provoking and even a bit touching family/coming-of-age melodrama - "Light of Day" may possibly be up to the task. During this primetime part of his career, pretty much anything that Michael J. Fox did was worth a look. Couple this with the facts that the legendary Gena Rowland turned in a credible performance, and rocker Joan Jett was surprisingly solid, "Light of Day" can be decently entertaining to those folks who are home during the day; those airlines looking for inexpensive in-flight movies or guys like me, who learned of the bar scene, by cutting their teeth in so many of Cleveland's eighties-era, head bangin' watering holes... 5.5 Stars
swedensm I never enjoyed the cutesy characters they always have Fox portray. Here he does a great job as a "regular", decent guy who is loyal to his family and just wants to know what his dream is. I think that Joan Jett did a fantastic job -- not too many musicians can cross over so well into movies. Fox and Jett are believable as brother and sister and Gena Rowlands is always incredible.I think this movie was panned because people expect Mr. Fox to be silly and boyish (two things that he wasn't in this movie.) Good for you, Michael.
