Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag Audience Reviews

Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Lawbolisted Powerful
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Ganesh Salian RGV Ki Aag,is purely bad.The movie is like any B or C grade movie. It is pity that this is a remake of classic Sholay.RGV's style of film-making 1.)Uneven angles 2.)Dark theme 3.)Loud background score. Irritates here.RGV stinks.Music stinks.Performance wise-Amitabh Bachchan looks like a joker of a circus and acts like one.It is pity to see this actor playing such type of roles.Mohanlal is topnotch, but his Malayalam accent should be improved.Ajay Devgan sucks.Nisha Kothari deserves the award Best Hamming Actress of The Year 2007.This was the first and unfortunately last debut of Prashant Raj.Sushmita Sen bores.Rajpal Yadav irritates. Sushant Singh is okay.Overall RGV Ki Aag stinks.
Jan van Steenbergen (ijzeren_jan) Unlike almost everybody else, I watched this movie months before I watched Sholay for the first time. And guess what? I enjoyed it, I even loved it! As a matter of fact, my opinion about Aag hasn't even changed at bit. I believe it's a remarkable, beautiful and well-made movie. Can you imagine how surprised I was to find this movie among the 30 worst movies ever? This, in my opinion, is one of the greatest injustices ever done to a movie.Surely, Sholay is one of the better old-school Bollywood movies. I can imagine people are attached to it, and that people who are will automatically believe any kind of remake is worse by definition. After all, the same thing goes when the movie is about a book one particularly cares for. And so, instead of watching the movie and enjoying it for what it is worth, one keeps waiting, comparing, and judging in a way that the movie in question is already doomed beforehand. Obviously, this is not the way to watch a movie. Instead, one should at least try to watch it as if it were the first movie one has ever seen in his entire life.Ram Gopal Varma is a master in building atmosphere, and in Aag he surely hasn't let us down. In spite of the script being very similar to that of Sholay, it is a completely different movie. Whereas the latter has - not incorrectly - been labeled a "massala Western", the atmosphere of Aag is predominantly dark. I absolutely love the character played by Amitabh Bachchan: Babban Singh. A terrific creation on his part, who has become one of my all-time favourite Bollywood villains.Yes, I admit it: I like RGV Ki Aag better than Sholay. Although Amjad Khan is great in the role of Gabbar Singh, Amitabh as Babban enchants me even more. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't change a single actor in Aag. While I agree that the duo Veeru/Jai is great, and more effective than the duo Heero/Raj, all the other Aag characters seem more appealing than their counterparts in Sholay. Notably the women: I honestly cannot see how Hema Malini (Basanti) and Jaya Bachchan (Radha) played their parts so much better than Nishi Kothari as the amusing tomboy Gunggroo and Sushmita Sen as the noble widow Devi. On the contrary, I find them plain irritating (Basanti) and completely uninteresting (Radha) at best, while the latter two really managed to make something new out of their parts. That is actually what I like best in Aag: although the story is essentially the same as in Sholay, both the setting and the characters are completely different from the original. It is, as it were, not just a remake, but also a complete reinterpretation. Another thing I absolutely love is the music. It is one of my favourite Bollywood soundtracks. To those who complain there is not enough romance and comedy in Aag (again, in comparison to Sholay), I would say: so much for the better! If you want those, try one out of many hundreds of other Bollywood movies. Aag has so much more to offer.
Sangam Yadagiri RGV's Aag is one of the advanced movies for it's released time coz it's made in a retro + B movies style. RGV deliberately gave that style to the movie. Unfortunately, the Indians are not ready for retro + B genre. He made this in that style because already lot of movies have been branded as remakes of sholey such as china gate(though it's a remake of seven samurai which again was an inspiration for sholey), mela....What do you think RGV who gave us films like Stays, COmpany, and Bhooth is such an idiot to make a B movie without his knowing? The answer is he made it deliberately with style i.e., RGV's stamp.Even the global audiences are not ready for this kinda movies coz the recent grindhouse was a flop though it could be enjoyed. So, what i want to say is that do not say sholey cannot be remade as the fact remains that it could be remade but it cannot be as big a hit as sholey was. Here, I hats off to RGV for giving us a fine piece of film making. As for the performances, i thing, every actor is superb in his own respect. Yes, Amitabh has given stellar performance but Mohan lal has given no less than a powerhouse performance. In fact, Mohan has given Amit run for his money. One more thing, Nish is so funny in the movie esp'lly with her Tapori accent and she has improved her acting skills. Come on guys, what do you expect from Aag, a classic. See the title which itself suggests its contents inside.Aur haan, this is not a biased review, just in case you think so. Honestly, I am a hardcore fan of RGV's, but still this is a genuine and careful review. ANd, I am not angry on anyone while writing is up.Keep making movies, RGV!
sumesh_5552000-1 Iam a Big fan of Mr Ram Gopal Varma but i could not believe that he made this movie. i was really disappointed.Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag doesn't come anywhere close to the real Sholay. It does not leave a lasting impression on a viewer. Ram Gopal Varma fails to create chemistry between the characters . There is no camaraderie between Heero(Ajay Devgan) and Raj(Prashant raj). There are hardly any scenes with more than two people in the frame together. The sequence outside the courtroom with Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal face off is remarkable. Amitabh Bachchan should not have done this movie. Ajay and Sushmita sen was trying their best but no use. Rajpal Yadav's voice modulation - ineffective and rather pointless. Mohanlal did full justice and proved it again that acting is all about facial expression and body language. Rest of the cast was below expectation. The comedy situation which was adapted from the original sholay fall flat in this movie.Ram Gopal Varma could have worked upon the script but because of the controversies surrounded against the movie he messed up and just for the sake of making he made this Aag. But there is no fire.
