The Magic of Belle Isle Audience Reviews

Steineded How sad is this?
Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Russ What a beautiful and tender film. As a psychologist, I have recommended it to many of my patients. Of course, Morgan Freeman rarely appears in any film that isn't spectacular. Virginia Madsen is a wonderful actress, but I don't recall seeing her in anything since Dune, So it was fantastic seeing her back in action. This film deals with issues like substance abuse and depression in a way that is uplifting to all of us.
Sandy Hale An aging alcoholic writer is dropped off at a small summer resort town by his nephew, who advises him to stop drinking, start writing again, and take care of the dog. Morgan Freeman grudgingly makes friends with some of the town's off-beat characters. He develops a relationship with the divorced mother next door and her three daughters. And, with their encouragement, he does indeed stop drinking, start writing again, and takes care of the dog. A romantic arc develops and provides a sweet, slightly surprising ending. This is an unexpected movie for Freeman fans, and is a nice change from his action films. Definitely worth the time of anyone who doesn't need to see morgue porn or stuff blowing up!
sue-39782-89854 Sunday afternoon, sitting on the sofa, marking work for school so decided to pop a movie on TV (via Net Flicks). As a fan of Morgan Freeman l chose this movie and am so glad l did. Towards the early part of the movie l put down my work and watched with full engagement and commitment. What a lovely movie. Such a touching story line of real people, gently executed. Caring and calming. Not one swear word or aggressive outcome. Lovely human tale. Morgan Freeman has such a wonderful voice that l could listen to him reading the ingredient list on a tube of Pringles and be blown away. The script for this movie was so natural and heart warming that Mr Freeman was all the more mesmerizing. Loved this movie. A very positive story line. Uplifting.
ltdwsr-77674 OK so a successful & popular writer who has lost his voice & currently drinks a bit secludes himself at a lake cottage for the summer. Of course there is a beautiful, charming and gracious woman who is staying next door. Oh yeah also getting divorced which of course makes her eligible & available. So, doesn't this happen all the time? Forgetabout it. It's a movie so just roll with it, accept it, embrace it & love it! This is a well written & presented tale. Virginia Madsen is a gem. From Candyman to Sideways to this. Her straight forward, sincere & soft spoken way of delivering lines just knocks me out. Morgan Freeman plays his part and delivers like a true pro. Sort of makes it all seem real. Just a nice film to watch. Sorry it wasn't enough for the jaded movie goers and critics, but really who cares what they think. Give this movie a try and when the credits roll you will feel good or at least a little better than you felt before you tuned in. After all isn't that what movies are supposed to really be about?
