Vellimoonga Audience Reviews

Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Protraph Lack of good storyline.
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Arjun Asok Biju Menon had a great comeback to lead role after many supporting roles with Kunchacko Boban. He once again showed his eminence in acting through an ordinary 41-year-old man named Mamachan. Aju Varghese, who is the prince of comedies and supporting roles, once again showed a magnificent way of act and skill to make others laugh and an another blockbuster to his account. Surely, this is a landmark film for Biju Menon, which is the second highest grossing Malayalam film in the year 2014 after Bangalore Days.Jibu Jacob, the director of the film, landed into Mollywood through absolutely a mind-blowing film. Many comic scenes like Mamachan's proposal to Lina and some scenes during the song 'Punchiri Kannulla' will obviously make us ROFL. The film kept on being interesting and was not much lengthy. Story by Joji Thomas was above average but the direction made it more charming.Nikki Galrani also played well in the film. She is a stock of super-hits and this film had made her brimming with super-hits.Vellimoonga, till 2015, Malayalam's 10th highest grosser, shows measures taken by Mamachan to win an election and to win a heart in Jina. This is a must watch Malayalam Movie and must be one of the favorites of all people.Adult Film - No | Family film - 100% | Direction - 9/10 | Cinematography - 7/10 | Cast -8/10 | Make Up - 6/10 | Songs - 8.5/10 | Background Score - 6/10 | Story -6.5/10 | Climax - 9.5/10 | Art Direction - 6/10 | Location Department - 7.4/10 | Overall - 7.5 /10 | My Rating - 8/10
Abdul Latheef Saw this movie last week. Inspite of all the excellent reviews from my friends and family members i didn't find myself satisfied. To tell the truth i found myself bored many a time because of the slow pace. It seems they somehow wanted to end the movie after the intermission. I give it to the movie for many a hilarious dialogues and 'naadan' comedy but then again thats all it has to provide. Biju menon does a wonderful job portraying his role as an emerging politician. I had a hard time deciding which was the main story for this movie because it contained many a stories i should say given equal importance. The movie didn't end up a disaster thanks to Biju Menon for his fine acting skills and witty lines. Comedy genre movie which doesn't have a backbone i would say in a nutshell.
soorujose619 this film is totally fun all the way,Jibu Jacob's 'Velli Moonga' is a light hearted entertainer that will surely have you leaving the theatres with a smile on your lips. Having arrived with limited claims, here is a surprise winner that has hit right at the bull's eye! Velli Moonga' might not the kind of film that brings the house down with loud guffaws, but its a decent entertainer that is worth every penny that you spend on it. The story that it tells is not spanking new either, and yet it makes do with several, inspiring comic moments that are splattered through out. There are plenty of smiles in store, as Maamachan tries to make headway in life, much to the amusement of those around him. He deals with his adversaries and followers with an equal fervour, and do not be surprised if you laugh your guts out on at least a couple of occasions Biju Menon has been aptly cast in the role of Maamachan, and gives it his best shot. He is agile, and throws in the right amount of suppleness into the role, that makes his performance appear truly unforced. Aju Varghese is around in a noticeable role, while Nikki Galrani and Lena make the best of their very limited roles. Tejas Nair Biju Menon has metamorphosed into a true comic hero since his "Ordinary" days, and with Vellimoonga, he succeeds again. The start was dull, yet potent. Talking about the central character Maamacchan (Biju Menon), who is the sole breadwinner of a family now that his politician father is dead, the film does not really have a story to tell and chiefly depends on humor. How Maamacchan is a barn owl for the villagers and uses his wit and cunningness to get things done is what is told in the better part of the film. He is abhorred by the people of his village and could be seen by the viewer as an anti-hero.The romance is fine and looks enforcing. Good-looking Nikki Galrani disappoints, with not much screen space nor any dialogs. Her air irritates; all she does is walk in slow-mo throughout the film, swinging her ounces of hair here and there. But the real hero of the film is definitely Menon. Every single frame has his presence and his peculiar style of talking will make you laugh your stomaches off. The comedy that comes out through his idiosyncratic diction is very appealing. Aju Varghese is a catalyst in here, and is funny, too. The second part of the film is awfully fast and sees politics written all over it. There is a twist or two in the end, with special appearance by Asif Ali, which will keep your delight from fading. The whole theater was full, which is a rarity here in Mumbai, and the folks did not hesitate to clap during comedy scenes. Which means, our hands and stomaches and jaws started paining in the second hour. Hilarious situations that must have taken huge efforts from the writers, the debut director, editor and choreographers and the cinematographer salvage the film even though there is no plot to consider. Talking about plots, it is better to have such comedies which are light-hearted without a speck of tension in them, than producing ennui-inducing slapstick with superstars. In spite of having 2-3 plot holes, I am ready to accept Vellimoonga with all its glory.BOTTOM LINE: A laugh out loud comedy which comes out as a very good entertainer of recent times. My uncritical partner even gave a rating of 9 for the film, which she loved to the core. There are many reasons to watch Vellimoonga this weekend. Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES
