Woundings Audience Reviews

Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
Skunkyrate Gripping story with well-crafted characters
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
dbborroughs After a war on a far off Island is won women are recruited to come be with the soldiers and help set up a new colony. Of course things don't go right. Based on a play by Jeff Noon, best known for the Vurt novels, this is a mediocre film based on a mediocre play. I'm a huge fan of Jeff Noon's writing but I really don't like the play since it feels much too obvious for what it is. You can feel the film's heart on its sleeve as it criticizes the Falkland's war, the military and male female relationships in a macho environment . It's all much too obvious. I would take a pass if you come across it unless your a fan of the cast which includes Guy Pearce, Ray Winstone and Emily Lloyd.
jonasjobbar This was just weird Maybe something got wrong when they transformed it from play to manuscript for this didn't work at all. Everybody justacts weird, and I am not sure if it was the characters that were stoned or the script writer/director...crap 2/10watched it once, giving away the DVD...and Guy Pearce: What is he trying to do? A nerve damaged weirdo or a drug addict?want 10 lines 10 lines of text I am singing in the rain just singing in the rain what do you want to use these crappy rules for ?Short comments should be OK too, especially for crappy movies
xilk A disappointment, I must say, since it's based on a play by Jeff Noon, one of my favourite writers. A psychedelic futurism is sought, with lots borrowed from A Clockwork Orange, but the weird photography doesn't quite fly and it does all get a bit stagey. The cast is very good though, but again, the performances are more theatrical than cinematic. The script is in itself quite oddball enough, and could have taken a more deadpan, or highstrung, or subtle rendering. Just imagine Kubrick behind the camera. Some very memorable moments, my favourite: the prince visiting the newlyweds. It should have been better, but it's still worth seeing (for those who like this sort of thing); ordinary it ain't.
chaz-17 Woundings is a futuristic film, but has no real time scale to it, set on a remote island after a war(which is loosely based on the Fauklands war), we have a group of British soldiers who are living amongst the islands local inhabitants, when the British government recruit young women to move there to start a new colony. The film is packed with action, adventure, love and romance, and some humour!! It has a great script and is directed well, and boasts an exceptional cast, it's not your average post war film, but has many memorable moments. There is a great section to look out for where the "prince" visits his troops, I won't give away what happens, but you may see that the "prince" is based on what Prince William (England) would look like in the not so distant future!!! anyway, I recommend this film, and I think you will all enjoy it!!
