Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
garyldibert TITLE: INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS opened in theaters across the country on June 1 1973 and it took 85 minutes to watch.STARRING: Invasion of the Bee Girls was a 1973 science fiction film, the first film venture for writer Nicholas Meyer. Directed by Denis Saunders, the premise of the movie is that a mad scientist (played by Anitra Ford) has created an army of beauties who seduce men to death. This movie was also been released on DVD as Graveyard Tramps.SUMMARY: Neil Agar, a security agent with the State Department, is dispatched to Peckham, California to investigate the death of John Grubowsky, a bacteriologist working at government-sponsored Brandt Research. Quickly making the acquaintance of the laboratory's head librarian, Julie Zorn, he begins interviewing the firm's leading scientists, many of whom have reputations as sexual players. His investigation soon becomes complicated by a growing number of deaths, all men who died of congestive heart failure caused by sexual exhaustion. Faced with a rapidly escalating body count, the local sheriff, Captain Peters, holds a town meeting at which the laboratory's leading sex researcher, Henry Murger, urges the town populace to practice sexual abstinence – an idea greeted with derision by the locals. Neil and Julie arrange a meeting with Murger afterwords to discuss his theories as to the cause of his deaths, only to see him chased down and run over by a car with an unseen driver. While investigating Murger's home in search of clues, Neil discovers a secret room concealing sexual paraphernalia and Murger's gay lover, Joe, who informs Neil that he saw Murger driving off with an unknown woman prior to his death. Despite a curfew and the establishment of a military quarantine, the scientists continue playing their sex games. One of them, Herb Kline, is approached by Susan Harris, a beautiful entomologist working on bees. Though described by the men as an "iceberg," she flirts with Kline and invites him over for dinner. That night, as they engage in sex, Kline suffers a fatal thrombosis and Harris reveals black compound eyes suggesting that she is more than she appears. QUESTIONS: Why was Kline convinced there was a small pattern? Why was Neil studying the sexual patterns of insects? What was Dr Harris keeping in her lab that she didn't want anyone to see? How did the Bee Girls get started? Where did the Bee Girls come from? Why was Herb Kline killed? MY THOUGHTS: First thing I want to say is I don't like Science Fiction or Horror movies? With that being said when they star Anitra Ford that changes the whole concept. Anitra Ford was breath taking in her role as Doctor Susan Harris. Everyone else in this movie was second best. The love scene with Doctor Harris was breath taking also. This movie does wonder for not only Anitra Ford talent, but her beautiful body also. Base on Anitra Ford alone I give this movie 10 weasel stars.
Uriah43 An agent for the State Department named "Neil Agar" (William Smith) is sent to Peckham, California to determine if there is any connection between the death of a man and a local top secret government research facility called "Brandt Industries". Not long after his arrival, other men begin dying at an alarming rate. The cause of death is sexual exhaustion in almost all of the cases. Now, as one might expect from a B-movie this one has some typical flaws. First, the lighting in several scenes was clearly inadequate. Likewise, the special effects were somewhat basic as well. In addition to that, there was quite a bit of nudity. Some of it enhanced a particular scene but at other times it didn't seem necessary or even that remarkable. However, what I did find rather remarkable was that, minus the nudity, this is the type of film one might expect to see back in the 1950's. It has that type of a plot. Be that as it may, for a "Bee-movie" this wasn't that bad.
JoeB131 Between the demise of the Hayes Code and the rise of the MPAA where directors fooled with nudity and sexuality in otherwise "mainstream" films. They finally got to show breasts, and darn it, we were going to see breasts. The plot is that men are dying of sudden heart attacks immediately after sexual intercourse, usually with women they aren't married to. Meanwhile, the women are being inducted into this creepy bee cult which uses a rather "interesting" way to convert members. The movie is just plain silly and it didn't look like it had much of a budget. It's also in the days before you could digitally put an actresses head on a body double hot, sexy torso. Some of these women had no business doing nude scenes. But it's fun, corny cheese, enjoy it for what it is. Perhaps with a bit of honey.
Witchfinder General 666 INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS (aka. "Graveyard Tramps") of 1973 is a low-budget B-Movie which is primarily memorable for pursuing one of the most insanely grotesque ideas in 70's Exploitation cinema, which, as any fellow fan of 70's Exploitation cinema should know, is quite an accomplishment. In a California small-town, men drop dead 'like flies', in what seems to be an epidemic that has men of all ages die without reason during sexual intercourse. In the meanwhile, the bored women of this small-town become increasingly horny and sexy vixens, which subsequently results in more dead men. FBI agent Neil Agar (William Smith) comes to help the clumsy Sheriff investigate. Might the whole epidemic have something to do with the hot, insect-obsessed female scientist who is conducting some mysterious experiments near town???The film is mainly worth watching for its weird premise, and its textbook low-budget execution. In an enjoyable, typically 70s American B-Movie manner, INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS combines absurd and impossible-to-take-serious Horror/Sci-Fi ideas with mild sleaze (over-promiscuous women and gratuitous female nudity), including humorous undertones and not taking itself too seriously. The female cast members (including Anitra Ford) are entirely hot; for whatever reason, most of the hot female characters are married to fat, bald men, who are subsequently sexed to kingdom come. B-movie legend William Smith (whose impressive filmography includes almost 300 movies) will probably never get a life-achievement award for the most subtle character acting, but he is the perfect leading-man for a grotesque low-budget flick like this one. I own this film as part of a 100-Movie-Horror-Classics DVD-Box, and had seen the trailer some weeks before first watching the movie. My expectations were met: See the trailer, and you have basically seen the whole film. The performances are as bad as one has to expect, of course, and in-between the bizarre moments and the sleaze, the film tends to have its lengths. The makers obviously were perfectly aware however, that this film wasn't a masterpiece, and the film does not take itself too seriously. In terms of camp charm, INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS is almost unsurpassable. A definite must-see for lovers of B-Movies, and people who can enjoy inept grotesqueness. Others beware.
