Bidyut Sarkar What a fantastic movie!!!! Loved it... I could feel every moment of the film... Hritik Roshan's was at his best Marvelous A true masterpiece And a must watch....
chai_hat *Spoilers ahead* What I loved about the movieMy biggest fear was that I was going to be faced with some heavy duty TV soap opera with people yelling and screeching at the top of their voice in the court, tears from every character, long speeches, annoying soppy dialogues. Instead I was surprised at how subtle the movie was, it has to be SLB's most subtle work. No annoying background music, the dialogues are to the point, witty dialogues from Ethan when you would least expect it and Sofia's tit for tat responses.Aditya Roy Kapoor as Omar: He enters the house as this dorky kid whose only aim is to become the greatest magician in the world and he decides to go to the man who was known to be the best in the business. It's not easy for him because Sofia doubts him from the word go and does not make it easy for him. His interaction with Aishwarya is hilarious- she makes sure he goes through hell and he's determined that he wont let her come in the way of learning magic from Ethan. Aishwarya: Amazing? That is an understatement. After Jodhaa this is my MOST favourite character played by Aishwarya. She does not speak too much but her eyes speak volumes- there is so much pain in her eyes because of her failed married, she loves Ethan but cant express it, She does not want him to die but has no right to speak because she is "just a caretaker". She cares for him like no one else, devoting 12 years of her life- leaving her husband, her house everything for him and she fights for him till the end. Aishwarya is there from the first scene of the movie to the last so yes Ash fans need not worry about anything. She gives a brilliant performance once again and one that can fetch her awards (sahil, your q)For Hrithik I need to run through the dictionary to find words! I don't believe he has any sort of competition from any actor of his generation- the man keeps setting the bar higher and higher with each movie he does. I cannot imagine ANYONE but Hrithik playing Ethan. The kind of detailing he brings into his character, I am yet to see another actor do it. His expressions melt my heart, I wanted to cry when he was crying, just run and hug him when he was in pain but helpless because he couldn't move and no one could hear him. His fear and helplessness when sofia is being physically abused in front of his eyes and he wants to go and help her but cant left me distraught :cryloud: Sigh! His portrayal of Ethan is going to win a million hearts. What I loved the most about Ethan was his positivity- except 2-3 scenes where he is extremely frustrated you can always see him smile through his problems. He falls off the bed but instead of crying about how he cant move he makes a joke of it telling ash that even though his head was on the floor he couldn't see her sexy legs, when the water is falling off the roof in the night and he's frustrated but no one can hear him and come to help him he decides to just play a game with the water takes it easy.
sanjay-sampath I am watching this movie after 5 years. Somehow, th topic of a paraplegic seemed dark and depressing and therefore I avoided watching this movie. But this movie is not about pontificating on paraplegics. It is about the best looking actor in Mumbai coming on his own in a role that celebrates a once great life and now remains a pale shadow of his great past - and suffers immensely while fighting through his day to day challenges, being dependent on someone. I salute Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aishwariya and most importantly Hrithik for his best role ever. Overall the movie grabs your attention for the entire run and one feels that there could have been a little more definition around the Siddiqui character and his father. Highly recommended.
Anup Chakraborty It's Magic, It's Magic..... Hrithik sang and danced to a magical glory in Koi.. Mil Gaya, a few years ago. And today in Guzaarish, he plays the Magician who mesmerizes us (the audience) with his wonderful, award winning performance as a quadriplegic patient, who at the very first scene of the film makes this Request (Guzaarish) that he seeks euthanasia (which is asking for mercy killing) from the law. Now, this is something very new to Indian Cinema. Rather new, it is First ever of this kind. And the Lead Hero's Request is supported by the entire limited star-cast - right from his doctor, to his best friend lawyer, his magician student, to his radio listeners to his mother and his nurse!Meet Ethan Mascarenhas who just can talk as a radio jockey and dedicate songs for his program 'Radio Zindagi'. While he chats on Live Life, he himself wants to End Life. With a few mini-flashbacks here and there, that shows us his past of being a classy Magician and performing an dangerous act, looses control and ends up being a wheelchair bound, semi-paralyzed patient throughout his life. Though, tragic and emotive, the film celebrates life even if it's inches away from the devouring jaws of death.Believe me, this is one of the most relaxed performance by Hrithik in his entire career. Relaxed because, he is only sitting in a wheel chair or lying on the Bed. And by doing so, he comes out with a very difficult act which he performs to perfection. Wow! If you thought Koi.. Mil Gaya and Krrish was one of his best, then you gotta see this! If Papa Roshan could get best from him, it is Bhansali who got Hrithik one of the best that no Khans deliver either.Ish... Speaking of Ash. After being very lively and entertaining in Bhansali's earlier HDDCS and Devdas, here she comes out with a very sensitive performance that is quiet, silent and classy! An eternal beauty she is class as Sophiya, who nurses Ethan for lifelong! The best dialog that still registers in my mind is: "I love God, and that is why I am dying to meet him!". Such meaningful and such disturbing at the same time. While we celebrate Life, its the climax scene of the film, that makes you shed tears at the finale thanksgiving speech by Hrithik as his guests and well wishers gather to celebrate his farewell. His death! This is a Bhansali's poetry on celluloid which deserves to be appreciated, applauded and recommended everyone to watch it! After being colorful and lively (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas), BLACK and BLUE (Oh, forgive him for 'Saawariya'), here it's MAGIC that is lavish in its sets, Hrithik and Ash's un-passionate yet beautiful romantic film (You need to watch it to believe it!).While the film is minus action, minus comedy and minus romance, its just plus points for Hrithik all the way! Slow in parts, but yet, the film deserves to be watched!
