Reeker Audience Reviews

Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Freaktana A Major Disappointment
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
evil befall it may seem your usual horror movie where a dumb teen gets killed by a serial killer at first i admit at first its a bit confusing the movie but at the end you see it has a huge plot twist which you did not understand until the end of the movie and you understand why they died and the way they died
bowmanblue Nothing new in five American teenagers going on a road trip and falling foul of (insert you monster or redneck family of choice here). However, every once in a while a film comes along that tells a tried and tested story, but with enough flair to make it just that little bit more memorable.'Reeker' tells the story of five American teenagers going on a road trip and falling foul of... do you really need to know? If you watch the sort of film where these beautiful kids keep getting killed off by one monster/cannibal after the next, it doesn't matter who's doing the deed, only that it's entertaining. And Reeker is entertaining, just.First of all, for a low budget flick, the gore is nicely done. There are also some vaguely humorous moments to lighten the mood. Secondly, the killer is nicely done and moves in a genuinely creepy way (possibly a distant cousin of the 'Peeper' in Jeepers Creepers). However, where Reeker falls down is that, although the film may be nice and well done, there's nothing particularly new here - not enough to really set it up as a classic. There's still the old 'have sex and die' cliché, plus the "I'll be right back" (and die) cliché, followed by the attempted twist in the tale cliché. And, once the clichés start coming, what charm the film has starts to dwindle. You'll probably have guessed which characters live and die within the first few minutes of meeting them - they're all pretty stereotypical, so there's not too much in the way of suspension.Basically, if you like the sound of Reeker (and that type of movie in general), you could certainly do worse than this. I didn't feel like I wasted an hour and a half of my life watching it, but I'm not sure I could be bothered to sit through it again, simply because I have a dozen better versions of this movie in my DVD collection already.
anshe_2109 If you haven't watched that film, then this wouldn't be a spoiler. if you have, then VOILA! The only difference is Dead End presented it in a creepier and more "devilish/occultic" manner and used a sleek looking harbinger. On the other hand reeker used a sci-fi/alien-looking antagonist. But unlike Dead End, Reeker will make you confused because of the too many elements presented in the film. It will make you think of who might be the real "killer" is, but everything will make sense in the end. Oh well, no more "compare and contrast" here, both movies presented the same idea in a different format so I guess it makes both enjoyable :)
Steve Hoyland When this film began with a much-repeated formula -(bunch of late-teens getting ready for a road-trip)-I had the distinct feeling that I'd soon be saying "seen It all before". But no, It's actually very entertaining, with plenty of "make-you jump" moments, some convincing, gory special effects and - apart from the horrendous "Australian" accent of Gretchen - some decent acting from a bunch who really seem to be trying hard to make an effort. The teens, along with one or two others, spend most of the Movie In and around a deserted Motel, fending off **(Something!)** intent on dealing out death and destruction. The whole thing starts to get a little confusing until a very clever and unexpected ending which tops off the film very nicely. I recommend this movie, It's definitely one of the better ones of It's kind.
