Ben Larson In my effort to see as many films of last years as I can, I come across a typical revenge film that is indicative of a Euripides tragedy. Reason giving was to passion as the protagonist attempts to avenge the death of his daughter.At the end, one thinks of Karma at work. The sins of the past being balanced in the future.But is is those sins that cause me to think throughout this movie. I see an Irish Catholic boy in Paul (Nicolas Cage) who presumably confessed his sins and received absolution, and who then went on to perform great works to put that sinful life behind him.But, I also see the stain of those sins remaining in his heart and soul. They never truly go away, and he reverts to his previous character and commits even greater sins as his passions consume him.Passion overcomes reason and causes Paul to reject those who love him, and to hurt his friends as well as his enemies.The sins of the father are visited upon the son, or in this case upon the daughter, played by Aubrey Peeples of Lake Mary, Florida, and a famed Sharknado actor.

Prismark10 Nicolas Cage is 50 years old but looks odd for his age. His hair looks unnatural, he really needs to take it back to the shop and ask for an exchange.His post Oscar winning glory days are well behind him when for a few years he had that knack of making blockbuster action films and more offbeat art films that gained critical acclaim. Mired with tax demands he now makes straight to DVD films solely for money to keep the tax authorities satisfied.In Tokarev, Nicolas Cage plays a reformed gangster who has to go back to his bad old ways and get his former crew together when his daughter gets kidnapped. When she is found dead killed by a Russian pistol they go after some Russian gangsters thinking its retaliation for past events.Danny Glover (who seriously is too old for this s**t) plays the oldest detective in town trying to stop Cage from having his vengeance.This is just a low rent version of Taken but Cage lacks the special skills that Neeson had apart from the moral that your past sins will come to haunt you, this is a derisory film.

Floated2 Rage (2014) starring Nicolas Cage is another film in the recent catalog of Nic Cage where his film qualities have seemed to taken a hit. In the film, we see Cage in another film where he plays the same typical character of a hit-man or mob leader making anger expressions. Many of them are quite bad. But they're usually bad in an over-the-top or ridiculous way- they're rarely boring. This one is. It could have used a bit more of crazy Cage, and I believe the film swindles too much in the middle. A lot of predictability and nothing happening but a simple plot. The action is typical, very few between each scene and the acting isn't great. The standard of this film has a lot to do with Taken which seems like a direct lower in quality. The director also tries a twist at the ending, thinking with that in mind that it would make the film better (perhaps a little) but in general, it was too late and the film hadn't been that great either way. After watching the film, we all can see why this did not get a typical US theater release. ============================================================= As a rewatch (03/22/18'), the film is more engaging and interesting than initial lead to believe. It is a poorer version of Taken with less suspense, thrills and overall quality of a script but Rage remained enjoyable in some ways. Better than some of Nicolas Cage's more recent action thrillers. With a second viewing, the twist ending felt more predictable and obvious. Rating changed from 2 to 5. Worth a second viewing, though don't expect too much.

The Couchpotatoes I saw this movie while sitting on a plane from Madrid to Miami. It's for sure not the best place to watch a movie but when you have nothing else to do it's just the best solution to kill time. I thought this movie was bad. And it wasn't because I was sitting uncomfortable nor because of the crappy sound in my earphones. Nicolas Cage made for sure better movies then this one. It's all gone downhill for him with this movie. And what to say about Danny Glover? I still don't get what he did in this movie. And the little he did was just extremely awful. The story itself is so cliché it's painful to watch. But like I said, I was on an airplane and had to kill time. Would I watch it again? Certainly not!
